Stars Turn Out to Fight ALS at Kevin Turner Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament

(Nashville, Tenn. – May 2, 2012)  A mix of Country stars and former football players gathered in Nashville, Tenn., recently to show support for ex-NFL player Kevin Turner at the Kevin Turner Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament.

The two-day, inaugural fundraising event was held April 22-23 to help further ALS research efforts.  Turner, a fullback with the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots in the 1990s, was diagnosed with the disease in May 2010.  Mounting scientific evidence has linked repetitive head trauma to the onset of ALS.  Turner formed the Kevin Turner Foundation in 2010 to raise awareness about the connection and to help fund ongoing ALS research.

Rascal Flatts’ Joe Don Rooney, Lady Antebellum’s Charles KelleyChuck Wicks, Amber Hayes and Shenandoah’s Mike McGuire were among the Country artists in attendance at the event, which included a celebrity mixer and silent auction on Sunday night.  A golf tournament was held on Monday at the Governor’s Club in Brentwood, Tenn.

Former Tennessee Titans Kerry Collins and Blaine Bishop were on hand to show their support for Turner, along with Kyle Turley, who performed with his Country/Rock group, Kyle Turley Band.  Turner’s alma mater was well represented with appearances from former University of Alabama players Siran Stacy, Lemanski Hall, Mark McMillian, Jeremy Nunley, Hoss Johnsonand Kevin Turner Foundation board member Craig Sanderson.  Turner played fullback for Alabama from 1988-1991 before being drafted by the New England Patriots in 1992.

“I was blown away by the support and turnout for this event,” said Turner.  “To see so many friends, former players and musical artists come out and donate auction items or sign up to play in the golf tournament was very humbling and inspiring.  We are making progress in the fight against ALS, but there’s still a long road ahead and a lot more that we are learning and discovering every day about concussions and this disease.  I am optimistic that one day in the future we will have a cure for ALS.”

Former professional wrestler and co-founder of The Sports Legacy Institute, Chris Nowinski was in attendance to speak to the crowd about the connection between repetitive head trauma and the organization’s efforts to make contact sports safer for athletes at all levels.  Turner works closely with SLI and Boston University’s Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy in their ALS and concussion research.

World Vision Continues to Spread Message, Expand Presence in Country Music Market

Carter’s Chord trip, Rick & Bubba radiothon, CRS sponsorship among organization’s latest initiatives

(Nashville, Tenn. – March 21, 2012)  With recent initiatives involving Carter’s Chord, The Rick & Bubba Show and its presence at Country Radio Seminar 2012, global humanitarian organization World Vision continues its push into the Country music market.

Female Country trio Carter’s Chord embarked on a goodwill trip earlier this year to the Dominican Republic, where the group personally sponsored two children of their own.  During the visit, the sisters experienced firsthand the work of World Vision out in the field and filmed a video for their song, “Love A Little Bigger.”

Popular syndicated radio show hosts Rick & Bubba recently partnered with World Vision for the third year in a row for their two-day Rick & Bubba Show radiothon.  The event resulted in the sponsorship of more than 800 children through the World Vision program.

“The global impact we’ve been able to make on over 825 children’s lives this year, and over 2,600 children since 2009, is beyond words,” said Rick Burgess and Bill “Bubba” Bussey.  “The overwhelming response from our listeners and the ability to be part of something so meaningful just blows us away.  Doing what we do for a living and being able to make such an impact through World Vision really does make it all worth while.”

In an effort to raise awareness in the Country music community, World Vision was also an active supporter and sponsor at Country Radio Seminar 2012, held February 22-24 in downtown Nashville.  The nonprofit organization sponsored the CRS media room, meeting and recording PSA messages with more than 60 artists during the three-day event.

Country acts Adam Gregory and Amber Hayes were among the artists introduced to World Vision at CRS 2012.  They join a growing list of supporters in the Country format, including Carter’s Chord, Terri Clark, Sarah Darling, Patty Griffin, LoCash Cowboys, Ricky Skaggs, Chuck Wicks and Wynonna, among others.

“Country artists and their fans are among the most generous people in the world,” says World Vision Channel/Product Director Michael Bianchi.  “It is World Vision’s desire to empower artists to spread the news about how their fans can help make lasting change around the world, and we were thrilled with the interest we received at CRS 2012 from the Country music industry.”

World Vision raises more than $2 billion annually through its work in nearly 100 different countries, employing more than 40,000 individuals around the world.  The organization is currently sponsoring 4.1 million children in its fight against poverty and its mission to provide things like medical care, access to education, economic development, spiritual nurture and disaster relief for those in need.  One of the founding members of the ONE campaign, World Vision is consistently ranked among the top charities in the world.

More than 400 artists and celebrities have committed to the World Vision cause to date, including musical acts: Terri Clark, Patty Griffin, The Isaacs, Sarah McLachlan, PawnShop kings, Kenny Rogers, Jordyn Shellhart, Ricky Skaggs and Wynonna. For more information, visit www.WorldVision.org.

CRB, Inc.® Introduces New Digital Liners System to Replace Artist Radio Taping Session at CRS

Superstars Carrie Underwood, Brooks & Dunn Among Those Already Confirmed

(Nashville, TN – November 16, 2009)  In the latest evolution of the Country Radio Seminar experience, Country Radio Broadcasters has announced a new digital liners system that replaces the on-site Artist Radio Taping Session at CRS.

The new digital process enables radio stations to submit their custom liner requests directly to CRB, which will deliver the liners to a specific list of registered artists on the station’s behalf.  The artists will then record digital versions and return them to Country Radio Broadcasters.  Radio stations will pick up their disc of liners when they arrive at CRS registration.  Stations must register for the new system by Dec. 18, 2009 (the CRS 41 Advance Rate deadline) to submit custom requests.  Stations that have already registered for CRS are automatically included.

“With this new and improved digital system, Country Radio Broadcasters has used today’s technological advances to provide radio with liners of the highest possible quality.  At the same time, we are providing artists with an opportunity to record those liners in a manner that will work with their busy schedules,” says CRB Board Member John Zarling, who is overseeing the digital transition along with fellow Board Member Clarence Spalding.  “If the caliber and diversity of artists already confirmed is any indication, CRS 41 is poised to deliver an amazing package of liners for our registrants.”

The first 150 stations to sign up for the new digital liners system will be given priority access to the participating artists.  Artists already confirmed include: Jason Aldean, Rodney Atkins, The Band Perry, Brooks & Dunn, Jason Michael Carroll, Carter’s Chord, Terri Clark, Whitney Duncan, Sara Evans, Fast Ryde, Pat Green, Jewel, Blaine Larsen, The Lost Trailers, Justin Moore, Craig Morgan, Mica Roberts, Steel Magnolia, Carrie Underwood, Jimmy Wayne, Chuck Wicks, Mark Wills, Gretchen Wilson and Darryl Worley.
