Streamsound Records’ Dakota Bradley Releases Debut Single, “Somethin’ Like Somethin’” To Country Radio April 29

(Nashville, Tenn. – Apr. 23, 2013) Country newcomer Dakota Bradley will release his debut single, “Somethin’ Like Somethin’,” to Country radio April 29.

The uptempo track was written by Mark Irwin, Josh Kear, and Shane McAnally. The release is Dakota’s first single from his forthcoming 2013 full-length album, which is co-produced by Grammy award-winning producer Byron Gallimore and Country music superstar Tim McGraw.

“Dakota is the real deal,” said McGraw. “He is a great young artist who defies the trends and lives for his music. His voice is unique and instantly recognizable, and his ability to convey pure emotion in his music draws the listener in from the very first word of every song. Working with him on this project has been a lot of fun. The single is a great summer song and I really think Country radio is going to dig it.”

“I am truly blessed to have had Byron Gallimore and Tim McGraw co-produce the single and my album,” said Bradley. “I pinch myself everyday to make sure this isn’t a dream. I am really thankful for them both and for Streamsound Records for taking a chance on me.”

In addition, #DakotaBradleyAtACMs trended worldwide on Twitter during the 2013 ACM Awards.

Country Singer Austin Webb Signs With Streamsound Records

(Nashville, Tenn. – Oct. 11, 2012) Nashville-based independent label Streamsound Records has announced the signing of Country artist Austin Webb to its roster and the pending release of his debut single, “It’s All Good,” in December.

A Greenville, S.C., native and Nashville resident, Webb’s music straddles the line between the two genres he grew up listening to most: Country and Soul.  Citing influences like Joe Cocker, Otis Redding, Bill Withers, Guy Clark, Bob Dylan and Townes Van Zandt, the former Middle Tennessee University student is currently on the road visiting radio stations in advance of his single release to radio.

“Austin Webb is one of those artists that is hard to categorize in conventional terms,” says Streamsound co-founder and Grammy-winning producer Byron Gallimore.  “I can tell you that he is a truly gifted and creative force that has been driven solely by his music and his songs since he first picked up a guitar at 16 years old.  I think this young man is going to be a breath of fresh air for Country radio.  He’s genuine and engaging and instantly likeable.  I can’t wait for the world to hear Austin Webb.”

Founded by Gallimore and veteran industry exec Jim Wilkes, Streamsound Records opened its doors in February 2012 with the signing of Country artist Jaida Dreyer.  The label has an exclusive distribution deal for its artists through Sony Music Nashville.

Gallimore’s production credits include No. 1 hits for acts such as Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Sugarland and Lauren Alaina, among others.  Wilkes will oversee the label’s business operations.

Nashville-based Aristo P.R. (www.AristoPR.com) is handling publicity services for Webb.

Ty Herndon Embarks on “Journey of a Lifetime” with New Album Due June 8

Chart-topping singer delivers his first album as a songwriter, prepares for busy CMA Music Fest week

(Nashville, Tenn. – June 3, 2010)  The journey continues for No. 1 hit recording artist Ty Herndon, as the singer and newly discovered songwriter prepares to release a collection of Country-tinged inspirational songs, titled Journey On, on June 8.

“Writing this music took me on the journey of my life,” says Herndon.  “There is joy and heartbreak, worship and big love within the walls of this music.”

Herndon’s newest project blends a contemporary Country and Christian sound with lyrics that reveal a singer reinvigorated with his faith and spirituality.  The release also marks Herndon’s debut as a songwriter, having co-written every song on the album, including “When We Fly,” the track that earned him a 2010 Dove Award earlier this year in the Bluegrass Recorded Song category.

Journey On marks a transitional point for Herndon and his 15-year career, which has produced sales of more than 4 million albums and multiple No. 1s on the Country charts, including “What Mattered Most,” “Living in a Moment” and “It Must Be Love.”  His new album’s title track and first single, “Journey On,” is being worked at Christian and Country radio and carries the positive kind of message that Herndon hopes will connect with his listeners.

“There was so much I wanted to say to fit where I find myself spiritually and emotionally, and I wanted to sing about that,” he says.  “When I was singing songs that someone else had written, I found that I wasn’t in my strongest voice.  I am very, very proud of this record and I can’t wait to share it with the world.”

Herndon’s busy schedule at this year’s 2010 CMA Music Festival includes a Ty Herndon & Friends benefit concert to raise money for the Middle Tennessee chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Held Wednesday, June 9, at Nashville Palace, the 7 p.m. show will feature performances from artists including Michael Peterson, Julie Roberts, Anita Cochran, Diana DeGarmo, Amber Hayes, Herndon and more.  A fan appreciation luncheon at Nashville Palace will be held earlier that day at noon.  For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.tybenefit.eventbrite.com.

Herndon’s other Music Fest engagements include hosting duties for Sirius XM radio’s “Pure Country” channel, a performance on the Courthouse stage on Friday, June 11 at noon, and numerous booth signings and interviews throughout the week.

Beginning June 15, Herndon’s “Journey On” single will be offered on WalMart.com as its featured free mp3 download of the week.  Fans can also purchase a digital download of the entire Journey On album at his website, www.TyHerndon.com.

In February 2010, Herndon became the flagship artist for Nashville-based record label, FUNL Music.  The label plans to release another Ty Herndon project in the fall.

International Country Music Conference To Offer Broad Historical Perspectives on Country Music May 21-23

Conference to Cover Variety of Country-Related Genres with Diverse Range of Panels

(Nashville, TN – May 6, 2009) The 26th annual International Country Music Conference, to be held May 21-23 in Nashville, Tenn. at Belmont University, will host a broad cross-section of panels and topics in the field of country music.

This year’s ICMC will feature more than three-dozen panels on a variety of influential artists and subjects in all country-related genres, including Bluegrass, Americana, Western Swing, Country Rock, Honky-Tonk, Gospel and more.  Notable artists to be profiled in selected presentations will include Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Waylon Jennings, Gram Parsons, Kitty Wells, Cowboy Troy, Charlie Louvin and Jimmie Rodgers, among others.

Renowned author and country music expert Don Cusic will co-host the panel “Defining Country Music: What It Is and Does It Matter?”

His recent book, “Discovering Country Music,” chronicles the evolution of the genre “from the fiddle to the Pop charts” and will be an ICMC Special Feature at this year’s event.

“The history of country music is being preserved by these academics and journalists,” says Cusic. “We treasure the present by honoring the past, and the International Country Music Conference demonstrates the impact country music has had, and is still having, on culture throughout the world.”

Additional ICMC panels will cover subjects ranging from international topics (“Teaching Country Music in Australia: Teaching Australian Country Music”

and “New Zealand Country”), regional interests (“A Cajun Music Mystery: Dr. James F. Roach, ‘Song of the Crocodile,’ and the First Commercial Recording of a Cajun Folksong”

) and political themes (“Barack Obama, Country Music Stardom, and a New Black American Narrative”).

A number of panels will be packaged together and presented on specific themes, including the Bluegrass genre and artists Hank Williams and Jimmie Rodgers.

The Belmont University Book Awards, Lifetime Achievement Award and The Charlie Lamb Awards will also be presented at this year’s conference.

Registration is $100 and checks should be sent to James Akenson, Box 5042, Tennessee Tech University, Cookeville, TN, 38505.

The AristoMedia Group Releases 2009 Video Outlet Status Reports

The AristoMedia Group Releases 2009 Video Outlet Status Reports

Despite Economy, Data Shows Video Viable, in High Demand Among Consumers

(Nashville, TN – May 04, 2009) AristoVideo and AristoVision, the two video promotion branches of Nashville-based marketing and promotion firm The AristoMedia Group, have released their 2009 Video Outlet Status Reports for the Country and Christian music formats.

Both reports offer a detailed look into available national, regional, syndicated and pool/closed-circuit video outlet opportunities.

“Overall, the numbers indicate that video is holding steady, which is encouraging given the nature of our economy right now,” says AristoMedia Senior VP of Marketing and Promotion Craig Bann.  “In fact, in some cases it’s thriving quite well.  I think the key to continued growth in the Country and Christian formats is knowing when to evolve and what areas within the industry can support that growth.  The bottom line is that people still want to see and connect with their artists through video.  It’s just the means by which they get it that’s changing.”

The comprehensive annual reports, which can be viewed in detail at www.AristoMedia.com , track the traffic and relative health of a broad range of video outlets.  These include national cable networks, Internet destinations, multi-regional and syndicated outlets, video pools/closed circuit distributors, regional programs, international markets and mixed-format/specialty opportunities.

2009 Country Outlet Status Report Highlights:

  • Regional outlets for country video programming in the Central U.S. increased by more than 20 percent in the past two years.  With the approaching conversion from analog to digital television, multicasting will provide even more regional programming opportunities.
  • The number of shows with ties to radio stations remains consistent, with stations continuing to incorporate more video content on their websites than in previous years.
  • A recent study by Edison Research and Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc.® indicates that 48 percent of the 13,000 men and women polled discover new music “often” through music video.
  • International exposure for country music video continues to expand, with multi-hour blocks of video programming now available in Italy and a new 24/7 country channel in development in Germany.
  • The overall number of online video viewers continues to increase sharply, rising roughly nine percent from 154 million to 167 million in the last year alone.  Americans watched roughly 14.5 billion online videos in March 2009, representing an 11 percent increase from the previous month.

AristoVision, The AristoMedia Group’s Christian video promotion department, has released its 2009 Christian Outlet Status Report at www.AristoMedia.com as well.

“With a new business model emerging in our industry, we’ve seen a real push from both major and indie labels trying to find new exposure for their artists,” says AristoVision Video Marketing Rep Rachel Foresta.  “A lot of people forget that video is essentially a three-minute commercial for your artist.  It’s a proven way to reach your audience and we hope that people can use these Outlet Reports as a resource when it comes to weighing the value of video placement.”

Foresta says the mainstream market has opened up considerably for Christian music, providing a number of new avenues for Christian video content.  According to data in this year’s Status Report, the last three years point to a positive trend for the format.

2009 Christian Outlet Status Report Highlights:

  • In the past three years, the total number of outlets incorporating Christian video has increased 20 percent, while the number of Internet outlets posting Christian video has tripled.
  • Since 2006, the number of international outlets airing Christian content has doubled.
  • In the past two years, Gospel Music Channel has doubled its household reach, increasing viewership to more than 45 million and maintaining its status as one of the fastest-growing cable networks in the U.S.

Commenting on this year’s data from the 2009 Status Reports, Bann noted, “The overall media value offered by music video continues to grow.  When you compare the relative costs of making a 30-second commercial versus making a three-and-a-half minute video, the value becomes obvious.  A music video really is the best kind of commercial an artist can make.”

Digital Rodeo Sponsors First Annual Andy Griggs Celebrity Poker Tournament June 11

Winnings Benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Additional Charities

(Nashville, TN – April 6, 2009) Digital Rodeo will sponsor Nashville’s first ever Andy Griggs Celebrity Poker Tournament, to be held Thursday, June 11 at Cadillac Ranch.

“We got to know Andy and learned of his involvement with the World Series of Poker,” says Digital Rodeo Director of Marketing and Promotions John Pyne. “Digital Rodeo is continually trying to create unique country music events, and we felt like a celebrity poker game was a great way to benefit a wonderful organization like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Judging by the early response to this event, we’re anticipating an incredible turn out from both the artists and fans.”

Country recording artist and World Series of Poker main event participant, Andy Griggs, will host the event, beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.  An artist “in-the-round” jam session will follow at 5:30 p.m.  A silent auction and door prize with five separate drawings will also be held.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to work with the guys at Digital Rodeo again and raise money for some really great causes,” says Griggs.  “I know this is going to be a great event because everybody wins – the fans get a chance to see some of their favorite celebrities interact and compete, we get a chance to play some music and some poker, and the charities get all the proceeds.  It’s a win-win-win situation.”

Celebrity players from country music, sports, film and television, as well as professional poker players, will participate in the tournament.  Confirmed attendees will be posted online at www.DigitalRodeo.com and www.AndyGriggs.com.

Griggs is the first country artist to receive sponsorship into the main event at the World Series of Poker.  He outlasted every non-poker celebrity in the tournament, including his sponsor, WSOP champion Doyle Brunson.  Griggs went on to register an impressive finish in the top 12 percent of the 2008 competition.

Currently, DigitalRodeo.com is featuring a weekly poker tip from Griggs on his profile page at www.DigitalRodeo.com/AndyGriggs.  The clips offer advice on a variety of topics, including how to bet, gauging facial expressions, reading your cards and learning to interpret body language.

Slideshow Presentation of 2009 CRB / Edison Research Country P1 Study Now Available Online

no strings attached movie clothing

Complete Presentation at www.CRB.org and www.EdisonResearch.com

(Nashville, TN – April 6, 2009)  Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc.® and Edison Research have posted the full results of their National Country Radio P1 Study online in the form of a video slideshow, complete with audio commentary.

The presentation, which was originally given this year at CRS-40 in Nashville, Tenn., may be viewed at either www.CRB.org or www.EdisonResearch.com.

“Country Radio Broadcasters is pleased to be able to serve our industry by sharing on our website this latest study of Country listeners and consumers, financed by the CRB and conducted by Edison Media Research,” says CRB Executive Director Ed Salamon.

According to Tom Webster, Vice President of Strategy and Marketing for Edison Research, the study revealed particularly noteworthy trends regarding repetition in country radio playlists, how listeners are finding new music, syndicated versus local programming and the importance of social networks.

“It’s wonderful to see so many people indicate that Country music plays an important role not only in their lives, but in American life.  Passion for this format remains very strong, and Country has a real opportunity to continue building deeper relationships with listeners, both online and offline,” Webster said.

To close his presentation, Webster announced four actionable items, summarized below, that stations should consider as a means to help increase their listenership.

1) Leave Deeper Footprints.  Marketing initiatives and promotions should be run through an additional “filter” to ensure that listeners are benefiting as much as possible from their local stations, Webster noted. “Stations should be asking themselves, ‘Does this help people?’  This is a great year to show America that Country cares,” he said.  Of those surveyed, 84 percent agreed that country music “makes a positive contribution to American life.”

2) Expand Your Presence on Social Networks.  According to the study, Facebook has overtaken Myspace as the most popular social network among the P1s surveyed, with 42 percent and 35 percent of the sample reporting profiles on the sites, respectively.  Nearly two out of three respondents (62 percent) indicated having a profile on at least one social networking website.  Webster encouraged stations to “listen, not blast” through their sites, and advocated a policy of hiring employees with “digital literacy.”

3) Take Repetition Seriously.  Results of the study showed that 51 percent of those sampled agree that stations play certain songs to the point that it “becomes annoying.”  Data from the Edison survey indicated that variety is increasingly important to listeners. “Stations have to do more than just talk about variety, they have to find ways to build a deeper bench,” Webster warned.

4) Think Visual. Although 87 percent of those surveyed reported radio was “often” their preferred outlet for discovering new music, Webster noted that visual exposure to the artists determined whether or not listeners actually liked the artist.  Music video channels (45 percent) and network television appearances (27 percent) were the second and third most popular means of discovering new music, according to those surveyed.  “Incorporate video elements of the artists wherever possible,” Webster said.

This is the fourth year the National Country Radio P1 Study was conducted and presented at Country Radio Seminar®.  Data was collected from more than 13,000 P1 listeners, age 12-64, between Jan. 31, 2009 and March 1, 2009 across 18 country radio station databases nationwide.  The CRB/Edison Research survey is the largest ongoing Country Radio P1 study of its kind.
