Craig Morrison Releases Rockin’ Christmas Single, “Santa Claus Boogie,” to Country Radio

(Nashville, Tenn. – Nov. 14, 2012)  Lucky 53s/GMV Nashville artist Craig Morrison has released an energetic new version of the popular Country holiday single, “Santa Claus Boogie.”

Morrison’s rendition faithfully captures the spirit of the original recording, which was first released in 1995 by Country/Rock band The Tractors.  The entertaining holiday track was a natural fit for the Australian-born singer-songwriter, who also happens to be a gifted guitar player.

“I wanted to record a song that was full of dancing, fun and energy while still keeping the true meaning of Christmas at heart,” says Morrison.  “What we ended up with is a rockin’ version of ‘Santa Claus Boogie’ – Craig Morrison Country style!”

Morrison released his first U.S. single, “Fences,” to Country radio earlier this year, posting a solid debut on the national MusicRow Country Breakout chart.  Both “Fences” and  “Santa Claus Boogie” were produced by Grammy-nominated Nashville producer and fellow Aussie Mark Moffatt.  Moffatt also produced Morrison’s self-titled 2012 U.S. debut album, now available at iTunes, Amazon.com and GMVNashville.com.

To date, Morrison has balanced successful careers in both the U.S. and his native Australia, where his “Just Another Sundown” single peaked at No. 4 earlier this year on the Australian charts.  In 2011, “Hot Kinda Love” took home Country Song of the Year at the Australian Songwriter’s Awards, and in 2012, Morrison was chosen as Male Artist of the Year at the Central Coast Country Music Festival.

The Sydney native is preparing to kick off 2013 with a new single release and U.S. radio tour, followed by a three-week run of shows and festival appearances in Australia.  Morrison will continue his overseas tour in April with a handful of performances in France.  Visit www.CraigMorrisonMusic.com for music, videos and the most current list of tour dates as they are added.

Craig Morrison Climbs “Fences,” Prepares for Busy Touring Season Abroad

(Nashville, Tenn. – Oct. 9, 2012) As his current single suggests, Australian-born singer-songwriter Craig Morrison is an artist skilled at overcoming obstacles, particularly in the highly competitive Country music industry.

While his U.S. debut “Fences” maintains its steady push up the national MusicRow chart, Morrison is preparing for a busy start to 2013, highlighted by several major festival appearances in the next six months and the pending release of a new holiday single.

On Nov. 15, Morrison is releasing “Santa Claus Boogie” to U.S. Country radio, marking the singer’s first seasonal single in the States. Morrison is currently maintaining a career in both the U.S. and his native Australia, where his “Just Another Sundown” single went to No. 4 on the Australian charts earlier this year.

Morrison’s first quarter schedule of 2013 features a three-week tour in Australia, including a high-profile appearance on Sunday, March 17, at the prestigious CMC Rocks The Hunter Festival. The Sydney native will share the stage with stars from the U.S. and abroad, including Rascal Flatts, Chris Young, Billy Ray Cyrus, The Band Perry, Adam Brand, Dean Brody, Corb Lund and Catherine Britt, among others. Other Australian appearances include dates at the Central Coast Music Festival (March 9-10) and the Country in the Snowy’s festival in Thredbo (March 22-23).

In April, Morrison will make multiple stops in France, including a performance at the Plouha Festival on Saturday, April 20. Fans can visit www.CraigMorrisonMusic.com for the most current list of dates as they are added.

“Craig Morrison is one of those artists that has a vocal presence and a clear love of his music that sets him apart from so many other young artists trying to forge out a career in Country music today,” says Paris-based Tony Taylor, International Artistic Director, Dreamwest Magazine and Web TV. “I truly believe that he falls into the Keith Urban category of performer, not because they both happen to be from Australia, but because like Keith, Craig has a great voice, is a great musician, and when playing live, really expresses his joy at having an audience to play to.”

The recent summer in the States was a particularly busy one for Morrison, visiting radio stations across the country, performing at CMA Music Festival and making personal appearances for one of his favorite local Nashville charities, “Musicians On Call.”

Morrison’s self-titled 2012 album was produced by Grammy-nominated record producer Mark Moffatt and released through Lucky 53s/GMV Nashville (www.GMVNashville.com). It is available at all major digital retailers, including iTunes and Amazon.com.

Craig Morrison Receiving Positive Response to U.S. Debut Release

Australian-born artist currently visiting radio stations in support of new single, “Fences”

(Nashville, Tenn. – July 9, 2012)  Australian-born Country artist Craig Morrison continues to receive positive feedback from critics and reviewers in response to his self-titled U.S. album release and debut single, “Fences.”

Respected MusicRow contributor and music critic, author and historian Robert Oermann wrote, “This Aussie cracks the U.S. country marketplace with a gently rolling social statement about the nature of barricades in our lives.  Well written and expertly produced, it’s a mighty promising debut.”Popular Country and Roots music website Roughstock.com noted that “‘Fences’ is quite honestly, a lyrical gem.  The kind of song that any artist, let alone a new one, wants to record.  The metaphor of fences being obstacles in one’s life is something that is vivid and certainly true.  Morrison has a strong singing voice that recalls Rodney Crowell.”

Billboard.com and Music News Nashville’s Chuck Dauphin says, “There’s a lot to like when it comes to the debut disc from Australia native Craig Morrison.  His album is full of deep and thoughtful lyrics, guitar riffs and some very fine guitar hooks throughout this disc.  He’s got the vocal chops, the instrumental skills and the confidence.”

Produced by Grammy-nominated record producer Mark Moffatt, “Fences” is Morrison’s debut single release in the U.S.  An accomplished and award-winning artist back home in Australia, the Sydney native moved to Nashville in 2011.  The self-titled project was released May 1 in the States through Morrison’s own Lucky 53s label and Nashville-based digital record label GMV Nashville.

Morrison has been on the road visiting radio stations for the past several weeks in support of “Fences,” which shot into the Top 5 of the Australian Country Tracks chart earlier this year.

“I’m doing as many radio tours as I can right now, which I think is very important,” Morrison told Country website Nashville Love last month during CMA Music Festival.  “I want people to get to know me, then they can understand my music more as well.  I just want to have that opportunity to get out and meet people.”

In 2012, Morrison became a volunteer artist with the Nashville branch of Musicians On Call, a national, non-profit organization that provides musical entertainment to patients in local hospital facilities.

A Toyota StarMaker finalist in 2010, Morrison was chosen as Male Artist of the Year at the 2012 Central Coast Country Music Festival.  His “Hot Kinda Love” single was named Country Song of the Year at the 2011 Australian Songwriter’s Awards and is also included on the singer’s new album.  Morrison is the son of renowned Australian artist Lucky Starr, widely regarded as a founding member of Australian Pop music and the first to record “I’ve Been Everywhere” and make it a No. 1 hit on the Australian charts.

Craig Morrison Releases “Fences” Single, U.S. Debut Album Due Out May 1

Project produced by Grammy nominated Nashville producer Mark Moffatt

(Nashville, Tenn. – April 23, 2012)  Australian-born Country entertainer Craig Morrison has released his debut U.S. single, “Fences,” to Country radio in advance of his May 1 self-titled album release.

Morrison’s U.S. debut features a pair of singles that made strong impressions recently with fans in Australia.  “Hot Kinda Love,” written by Morrison, was named Country Song of the Year at the 2011 Australian Songwriter’s Awards, while the music video was a Top 30 fan-favorite on Australia’s Country Music Channel (CMC).

Morrison’s follow-up “Fences” single shot into the Top 5 on the Australian Country Tracks chart earlier this year, with the video peaking at No. 23 on CMC.  The Aussie vocalist decided to release the song for his debut single in the States.

“‘Fences’ was the first song I found for this album, and I had to have it,” says Morrison.  “When I listened to the demo while on a radio tour, I just could not put it down.  I love the message, as I believe life is about overcoming hurdles.  Everyone can relate to this song in one way or another.”

Released earlier this year in Australia, Craig Morrison will be available May 1 in the U.S. on all major digital platforms through Nashville-based digital distribution label GMV Nashville.

“When I first started to put this album together, I didn’t have a specific direction initially, but I knew we wanted it to have a fun, up-tempo feel,” says Morrison.  “As time evolved, I found the album’s natural progression was describing my journey through music and life.  ‘Fences’ is a daily testament to how I live this musical journey… I climb.”

Fellow Aussie and Grammy nominated record producer Mark Moffatt (Keith Urban, Gloriana, Jason Aldean) produced the project after Morrison relocated to Nashville in 2011.

“Recording with Nashville session players is an experience every artist should have,” says Morrison.  “We tracked live with six amazing players and then did incidental instruments like mandolin, banjo and backing vocals at Mark Moffatt’s Big Dog Studios.  No shortcuts were taken, and I have no regrets.  This is truly the most amazing album, and I have enjoyed every minute of the recording process.”

A Toyota StarMaker finalist in 2010, Morrison was chosen as Male Artist of the Year at the 2012 Central Coast Country Music Festival.  Morrison is the son of renowned Australian artist Lucky Starr, widely regarded as a founding member of Australian Pop music and the first to record “I’ve Been Everywhere” and make it a No. 1 hit on the Australian charts.
