Deborah Allen’s “Amazing Graceland Contest” Surpasses 10,000 Entries

Deadline to submit entries is this Saturday, April 7

(Nashville, Tenn. – April 5, 2012) In less than three months, Deborah Allen’s Amazing Graceland Contest has generated more than 10,000 entries from Elvis fans around the country hoping to win an all-expense paid trip to Elvis Week 2012.

The contest, which invites fans to submit their memories about Elvis and Graceland at www.AmazingGracelandContest.com, ends this Saturday, April 7.  Allen will announce the winner on Friday, April 13, during George Klein’s “Elvis Hour” radio show on Sirius XM.  Since the contest began on Jan. 8, Allen has appeared on the program numerous times to read some of the thousands of entries she has received online and through the mail.

“The response to our ‘Amazing Graceland’ contest has exceeded all of our expectations,” says Allen.  “It just goes to show you how timeless and iconic Elvis Presley remains in this country and in our culture.  As a Memphis native, I am a devoted Elvis fan, and it was his spirit that moved me to write “Amazing Graceland.” I never thought it would take on a life of its own the way it has, though!  The number of letters and emails we’ve received just floors me!”

Allen wrote “Amazing Graceland” after visiting Elvis’ famed Graceland mansion in 2009.  The powerful tribute song is the opening track on her 2011 Delta Rock Records release, Hear Me Now, and has become one of the multi-talented singer’s favorite songs to perform live.  Watch Allen’s moving “Amazing Graceland” video here.

The Amazing Graceland Contest grand prize winner and a guest will receive roundtrip airfare and three night’s hotel accommodations, admission to select Elvis Week 35th anniversary events and attractions in Memphis (Aug. 15-17 only), an autographed copy of Allen’s latest album, Hear Me Now, and a special meet-and-greet and dinner with the Grammy-nominated performer. Elvis Week 2012 is held Aug. 10-18, 2012.

Deborah Allen Releases Children’s Christmas Book, “The Loneliest Christmas Tree”

Inspirational story written 25 years ago, newly illustrated by Molly Brooks

(Nashville, Tenn. – Oct. 3, 2011) Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and performer Deborah Allen has released her first book, a children’s Christmas story titled “The Loneliest Christmas Tree.”

Originally written by Allen in 1986 but unreleased until now, “The Loneliest Christmas Tree” officially marks the multi-talented musical performer’s debut as an author.  The 54-page, hardcover book tells the inspirational story of a solitary Christmas tree facing the threat of urban development and the unlikely hero that comes to its defense.

“The idea for this book first came to me many years ago,” says Allen.  “I was writing every day, anxious to see what was going to develop next in the story.  It was around this same time that I had forged a friendship with a local Nashville woman who happened to be living on the streets.  The character in the book, Christmas Carole, is named after that woman, and she turns out to be the hero in the story.  Unfortunately, she passed away several years ago.  I wrote ‘The Loneliest Christmas Tree’ to communicate that anything is possible.  We all have the capability to move mountains, even when it seems all hope may be lost.”

Allen teamed up with artist Molly Brooks, daughter of Country music superstar Kix Brooks, to design and illustrate the “The Loneliest Christmas Tree.”

“I am so proud of all the wonderful illustrations created by Molly Brooks,” says Allen.  “Her brilliant eye and artistic hand truly brought my story to life!  When I discovered that Molly was born the same year I wrote this book – and coincidentally on Christmas Eve – I knew it was a sign that she was meant to be a part of ‘The Loneliest Christmas Tree.’  She did an incredible job, and every single page is beautiful!”

Allen is signing copies of “The Loneliest Christmas Tree” and performing a short acoustic concert Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Southern Living Showcase Home in Brentwood, Tenn., to benefit Ronald McDonald House.  Visit www.CastleHomes.com for more information and to purchase tickets.  Allen is also appearing Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville for a book signing and meet-and-greet event.  Visit www.CountryMusicHallofFame.org for more information.

“The Loneliest Christmas Tree” is now available in stores and at online retailers such as BarnesandNoble.com, BooksAMillion.com, ChristianBook.com and Amazon.com.  It is also available for the Nook eBook reader.  “The Loneliest Christmas Tree” is published by Carpenter’s Son Publishing (ISBN: 978-0983557111).

Allen released her most recent album, Hear Me Now, on Aug. 16.  It includes her current Country single, “Anything Other Than Love,” and the Elvis-inspired ballad, “Amazing Graceland.”  Allen produced nine of the album’s 12 tracks, which incorporate elements of Country, Rock, Pop, Blues and Gospel.

Hear Me Now is available at retail stores and through all major digital outlets, including iTunes, Amazon, Napster and Rhapsody.  The album was released in a joint venture with Nashville-based digital label, GMV Nashville.

Memphis Native Deborah Allen Confirmed For Multiple Appearances During Elvis Week, Aug. 10-16

Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter wows Elvis fans around the globe with “Amazing Graceland” tribute from new album, Hear Me Now

(Nashville, Tenn. – Aug. 9, 2011) Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter/performer Deborah Allen is confirmed for multiple appearances during Memphis’ historic Elvis Week, held Aug. 10-16, after her “Amazing Graceland” tribute video was featured on the front page at Elvis.com.

Allen is performing Sunday, Aug. 14, at George Klein’s Memphis Mafia Reunion at 4:30 p.m. (Alfred’s, 197 Beale St.) and at the Graceland Pavilion at 7 p.m CDT.  She will also appear on SiriusXM’s “The Elvis Hour,” broadcast during the Candlelight Vigil on Monday, Aug. 15, at 8 p.m.  Other appearances will be posted as they are confirmed at Allen’s website, www.DeborahAllen.com.

“Amazing Graceland” has received thousands of views and positive comments from around the world on the official Elvis Presley website (www.Elvis.com) and Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/Elvis).  The song is included on Allen’s latest album, Hear Me Now, which is officially released on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Allen wrote “Amazing Graceland” as a tribute to Presley after her first visit to Elvis’ Graceland mansion in 2009, though Allen’s connection to The King goes back to her childhood days.  A Memphis native, Allen’s parents designed the interior of Elvis’ tour bus, and as little girls Deborah and her sister would often camp out inside the blue velvet and gold-decorated vehicle.  Allen would later become a WHBQtie on Memphis DJ George Klein’s popular television program.  Klein is hosting the Memphis Mafia Reunion on Aug. 14, which each year brings former friends and associates of Elvis’ together to share stories and reflect on their experiences with the legendary artist.

“I could feel Elvis’ spirit in every room,” says Allen of the visit to Graceland that inspired her moving tribute.  “I was so moved.  On the way back to Nashville, the one word that kept going through my head was ‘amazing.’  As soon as I walked in my back door, I went straight to the piano and began writing this song as a tribute for the international legend, my hometown hero and the beautiful place he called home.”

Hear Me Now
includes Allen’s current single, the danceable Country-shuffle “Anything Other Than Love,” which continues its steady climb up the Music Row chart.  The 12 songs on the album reflect Allen’s overall versatility as a singer and songwriter, as well as her trademark ability to incorporate elements of Country, Blues, Pop, Rock and Gospel into her music.  Allen also produced nine of the album’s 12 tracks.

Hear Me Now will be available Aug. 16 at retail stores and through all major digital outlets, including iTunes, Amazon, Napster, Rhapsody and more.  The album is released in a joint venture with Nashville-based digital label, GMV Nashville.
