(Nashville, Tenn. – March 24, 2015) – “American Idol: Season 13” Top Ten finalist and First Launch Records artist, Dexter Roberts, has released his debut EP, Dream About Me, to iTunes and other major digital retailers today, March 24, 2015.
The four-track EP features three tracks co-written by Roberts with additional writer credits, including songwriting heavyweight Don Goodman (“Ol’ Red” by Blake Shelton, “Feelins’” by Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, “Ring on Her Finger, Time on Her Hands” by Reba McEntire, “Angels Among Us” by Alabama).
The EP’s title track, “Dream About Me,” is now at Country radio and was co-written by Roberts, Don Goodman, Brad Wolf and David Jones and produced by Grammy-nominated writer/producer Erik Nelson. “Dream About Me” marks Roberts’ radio debut and first release since finishing in seventh place overall on “American Idol: Season 13.”
MusicRow Magazine’s Robert Oermann commented of the debut single, “His jaunty debut single is quite engaging, with a flirty, built-in smile and a catchy, winning chorus. Promising.”
Roberts commented on the EP, saying, “Every one of the four songs on my EP has a special meaning, and they each show a different side of me. ‘This Day is Gonna Be Good’ is about playing hard after working hard all week, ‘Who You Are’ is about how I felt about my time in Hollywood, “Dream About Me” is a love song, and “Heaven is a Small Town” shows my faith and my love for my hometown. I don’t think we could have come up with four better songs to show everyone what I’m all about as an artist and a person.”

As a self-taught musician who plays guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin and keys, music has been a part of Roberts’ life since he was a toddler. At age 5, his grandparents bought Roberts his first instrument – a red plastic guitar. He instantly fell in love with the guitar and became determined to learn the craft. Roberts grew up working the family farm in Fayette, Ala. where he would spend his days and nights perfecting his craft and playing sold-out shows for the cattle he tended to while working the land. When Roberts learned that the “American Idol” bus was making a stop in nearby Tuscaloosa, Ala., he stood in line with thousands of hopefuls that day to try his luck on the famed show where only five, including himself, were asked to continue on in “American Idol: Season 13.”
Roberts, who quickly became a fan favorite after grabbing the attention of Country heavyweight and “American Idol” judge, Keith Urban, who called Roberts “the real deal,” has recently signed a recording contract with First Launch Records.
