Releases Music Video To “Cotton Eyed Joe”
(Nashville, Tenn. – March 24, 2014) – Country artist Amber Hayes makes her return to the big screen in the Cowgirls ‘N Angels sequel, Cowgirls ‘N Angels 2: Dakota’s Summer.
Hayes makes a cameo appearance in the film and performs the classic tune, “Cotton Eyed Joe,” which is featured on the soundtrack along with her song “Home.” Both tracks can now be purchased on iTunes, Amazon and other major digital retailers.
Hayes has also released a music video to “Cotton Eyed Joe,” which is now available for viewing. Nashville-based producer, Charlie Kelley produced and co-wrote the new rendition of the track, “Cotton Eyed Joe.”
“I am so honored to have been asked to record one of Country music’s most recognized dance songs, ‘Cotton Eyed Joe,’ for Dakota’s Summer,” said Hayes. “The track is very different from what my fans might expect from me, but I suspect that they will enjoy our twist on the track. I’m thrilled with the music video and can’t wait for the release of this wonderful, family film.”
Cowgirls ‘N Angels 2: Dakota’s Summer will premiere at the 2014 Dallas International Film Festival in April. The film will be available digitally on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and other major digital retailers on April 1 and released April 15 on Blu-Ray and DVD through Wal-Mart. The official trailer for the movie is available on iTunes and can be viewed here.
In the movie, Oscar® Winner Keith Carradine (Cowboys & Aliens) stars alongside a young, popular cast that includes Haley Ramm (X-Men: The Last Stand), Jade Pettyjohn (American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars), and Emily Bett Rickards (Arrow) in this inspiring second chapter of the beloved Cowgirls ’N Angels story.
After she receives unexpected news about herself, a 17-year-old girl (Ramm) experiences an exciting, yet challenging life in and out of the rodeo circuit in this wonderful coming-of-age story. Filled with heart, horses and high-reaching adventure, Cowgirls ’N Angels 2: Dakota’s Summer is an uplifting reminder that with courage, friendship and passion, anything is possible.
An accomplished theater performer, Hayes’ break in Nashville came during her role as Kathy Twitty in the Conway Twitty production, It’s Only Make Believe.
Hayes then made her film debut in the major motion picture Cowgirls ‘N Angels. Hayes is credited for three songs on the soundtrack, including her duet with Lonestar’s Richie McDonald, “Always There For Me.”
