To be presented during Country Radio Seminar 2019, Lawson will be recognized following the Opening Ceremonies on <strong>Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award<\/strong> is given at the discretion of the Country Radio Broadcasters Board of Directors to recognize an individual in the Country Radio industry who has displayed a magnanimous spirit of caring and generosity in service to their community. This award is named in honor of CRB Board member Tom Rivers, who died in 2004 at age 38 of bronchial asthma. Rivers, known for his work at WQYK, Tampa\/St. Petersburg and WUSN, Chicago, was highly regarded for his public service. Past recipients of the Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award include Dan Halyburton, Peter Smyth, Jeff Smulyan, Mary Quaas, George G. Beasley, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Bill Lawson\u2019s career in Birmingham began in 1979 at WERC-FM. His leap into Country music came in the early 80\u2019s where he worked under the helm of Rusty Walker at WZZK. At that time, Lawson did Middays and soon moved to Mornings where he co-hosted the show with the late Patti Wheeler. Together, they had 20 years of being number one. They left in early 2002 and that Fall, Bill and Patti were hired by Tom Hanrahan of iHeartMedia when he launched 102.5 The Bull (WDXB). Patti retired in 2008 and in the last ten years, Lawson has been paired with Madison Reeves as part of The Dollar Bill and Madison Show on The Bull.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, Lawson has graciously donated his time to work with charities that involve children, including Children\u2019s Miracle Network, Easter Seals and Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), hosting annual radio telethons. In 2002, Lawson was introduced to St Jude and its cause and mission. Since that time, Lawson has been the driver behind every radiothon, event, and walk that\u2019s been done for St. Jude and his support has helped raise over three million dollars for St. Jude in Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p>Country Radio Seminar 2019 will be held <strong>Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, <\/strong>through<strong> Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, <\/strong>at the luxurious Omni Nashville, in the heart of downtown Nashville. The three-day convention is the premier educational and networking event for Country radio and music industry professionals, offering attendees access to informative panels, countless networking opportunities, prominent speakers, research presentations and intimate performances from some of today\u2019s biggest stars and emerging artists. Panels at CRS cover a broad range of topics relevant to today\u2019s Country radio industry, including social media and digital innovations, PPM, brand strategies, leadership skills, consumer research studies, the relationships and economics of the radio and record industries and much more.
