New TV Series Explores The Explosion of Adoption In America

New TV Series Explores The Explosion of Adoption In America

(Nashville, Tenn. – May 15, 2013) Two award-winning Nashville-based television producers have come together to develop an adoption series called, Finding Home. The series will explore the rise of adoptions in the United States and will deliver a compelling look at how families are formed through adoption and how that impacts adoptees, birth and life parents, and communities in the present and for years beyond.  The show will deal with the phenomenon of modern adoptions, the family dynamics created and how that is impacting our society and communities.

Greg Travis, President of Travis Television and Jeanette Jolley, Producer, were both adopted as children and were separately using the Internet and other tools to look for some answers towards their adoption history.  It was by chance they discovered this separate, but parallel path.

This time, the two are turning to Kickstarter and social media to help find and fund interest in navigating a creative path for the captivating TV series, Finding Home.

Travis commented, “We have some very interested television agents, network executives and celebrities in Los Angeles regarding our concept, but we felt we needed a pilot that truly captured our vision of the show’s direction before we started pitching to the major networks.  Kickstarter funding gives us the freedom to present the stories in their rawest and most honest form.”

“What we have found is that these stories are many faceted,” added Jolley, “and we wanted to show all of it.  Not take a side. Not sugarcoated.”

The show promises an open and powerful view of adoption and family issues whether they are international stories, gay/lesbian adoptions, single parents, traditional, famous or the kids next door.

The ultimate reality show, the creative team is joined by associate producers whose personal life added to the adoption story.  Melissa Fitzgerald loves to talk about her grandmother, who was adopted.  Cathy Gurley’s family album features a colorful rainbow with three of her five grandchildren adopted.

Check out the video and levels of Kickstarter participation here.
