Mandrell, Wopat, and Esperian among those scheduled to participate

(Nashville, Tenn. – June 26, 2013) The Crossroads Celebrity Concert will take place at The Grand Ole Opry House on Thursday, July 11, at 7:00 p.m. CT. The annual concert brings together celebrity artists, orchestras and children’s choirs to perform at the historic venue. The concert is a part of the Crossroads Children’s Chorus Festival, which is scheduled for July 6-12.

Artists scheduled to appear at the event include Country legend Irlene Mandrell of the Mandrell Sisters, star of Dukes of Hazard Tom Wopat, and Metropolitan Opera star Kallen Esperian. These stars will join producer Martha Wright, conductor Rick Gabrillo, and members of the Nashville Symphony for this year’s event.  The children’s choirs will accompany each of the celebrity performers, as well as perform their own selections. Members of the Nashville Symphony, among other top players comprise the Crossroads Orchestra.

The event is produced by Martha Wright, a music educator who lives near Memphis. Her West Tennessee Youth Chorus hosts the event. Wright makes it a point to bring diverse musicians from different music genres together with some of the best international children’s and youth choirs who rehearse the music a year in advance of the festival within their respective home choirs. The festival convenes at the Opryland Hotel and Convention Center, where they rehearse hard during the day and enjoy Nashville attractions at night.

“Every year, our event brings together children from all over the country to experience moments in which they will forever remember.  Provided the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform with talented celebrities and top players in one of the most widely recognized performance venues, The Grand Ole Opry, is truly a unique occasion,” said Crossroads Celebrity Concert Producer, Martha Wright.  “I’m so proud of the event and what it has become and the continued support we receive from the Nashville community.”

Disabled Veterans and families of military serving in Afghanistan, Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and music education are some of the causes supported by this concert.

Tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster or at the box office the day of the event. For more information, please visit www.crossroadschildrenschorusfestival.com.
