To be presented at Country Radio Seminar Opening Ceremonies in February
(Nashville, Tenn. – November 4, 2013) – The Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc. will present a $25,000 scholarship to Texas A&M University during the Country Radio Seminar 2014 opening ceremonies, which will be held on Feb. 19-21 in downtown Nashville.
The gift will be endowed in perpetuity to fund scholarships for full-time Texas A&M undergraduate or graduate students pursing a degree in Agricultural Communications and Journalism, with a focus in Broadcasting.
“The broadcast department at Texas A&M particularly impressed the committee with its enthusiasm about the business and what it has done over the past year to enhance their physical plant with state-of-the-art equipment,” said John Shomby, CRB, Inc. Scholarship Chair. They have been strong participants and supporters of CRS and appear to be an ideal place to train future broadcasters.”
At least one scholarship will be awarded each year to a student who is planning on pursuing a career in broadcasting or a closely related field. Endowment dividends will also be used to send students to CRS annually.
To be considered for the scholarship, students must submit a cover letter explaining their broadcasting career goals and a resume. Students will also be asked to submit a two minute demo tape. These materials will be reviewed by faculty from the Agricultural Communications and Journalsim department, who will ultimately select a recipient(s).
This endowment is the fifth $25,000 scholarship the organization has given in recent years. The other schools to recieve these funds were Belmont University, Middle Tennessee State University, Central Michigan University and Green River College. The Scholarship funds are derived from revenues received from the Annual Country Radio Seminar and the CRS Battle of the Bands, an event traditionally held in late summer.
