Sharilyn Pettus came to The AristoMedia Group in late 2013 after graduating from Troy University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with concentrations in Business Management and Marketing. Pettus serves as Publicist for AristoMedia’s Aristo PR. Pettus’ responsibilities include client relations, market research and database management, story solicitation, media and event coordination and various other public relations duties.
Q. Where is your hometown? And why did you decide to come to Nashville?
A. I grew up in Lincoln, Ala., the lovely little town that’s home to the Talladega Superspeedway. After high school, I moved to Troy, Ala. and earned my degree from Troy University. I came to Nashville to learn more about the music industry, as my university did not have a music industry program at the time. I was very fortunate to land an internship at Broken Bow Records, where I caught the music bug. After one summer in Nashville, I knew I had found my home.
Q. What is one interesting fact about you?
A. I was a majorette in high school and college and still love to twirl every chance I get.
Q. What is your favorite Nashville eatery?
A. Stoney River Restaurant, my family loves to go there when they come into town so it has become a tradition. I also love Mad Donna’s brunch!
Q. What is your favorite thing to do in Nashville on the weekend?
A. Exploring. I am new to Nashville and trying to explore this awesome city as much as possible. I am constantly investigting new places to go and new things to do. Nashville has so much to offer!
Q. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
A. Not to sound cliché, but I really do feel that my greatest achievement thus far is moving to Nashville and landing a job in the industry. I am so blessed and thankful to be where I am right now. I only knew one person here when I began my journey and had so much to learn about the music business. I was very determined to “make it” and struggled for months to find my first job, but accomplishing that goal and getting this far has only motivated and pushed me to be a little bit better than I was yesterday. I hope to have many more “greatest achievements” in the near future!
Q. What is something interesting that is on your bucket list?
A. Skydiving!
Q. What actor/actress would you want to play you in the movie of your life? Why?
A. I took that Facebook quiz and got Mindy Kaling. She’s hilarious, so I’m cool with that!
Q. If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
A. A beach- any beach! I got used to living only 2 hours from Panama City Beach and now that spring has FINALLY arrived, I need to get my salt water fix.
Q. What TV or movie series are you obsessed with right now?
A. The Walking Dead. I am awful at keeping up with television shows, but I have seen every episode of TWD and can’t wait for season 5!
Q. A television show you can’t miss, but hate to admit you watch:
A. Teen Mom 2 – I can’t stop watching!
Q. What are the most random item on your desk?
A. Both are gifts from my mother – First, the “LOL” paper weight for when I just need a laugh. Second, the magnifying glass just for fun.
Q. Daily necessities in your desk drawer, pocket, or purse. Do you have a picture?
A. A few things I never leave home without: a lint roller (I have a fur baby named Lola), my favorite perfume, hand sanitizer, a Tide To-go pen, my Titans koozie (you never know when you might need one of those), at least two shades of red lipstick (goodluck catching myself or Christy Watkins without red lips!) and pepper spray…try me! 😉
Q. Do you have a photo from one of your most memorable moments at AristoMedia?
A. AristoMedia’s 34th anniversary photo – we all make such a great team and really enjoy the work we do, and I think the photo shows that!
