Two Decades of Hard Work and ‘Live at the ’62 Center’ Recognized

(NASHVILLE, Tenn. – March 1, 2019) Albert Cummings is one of those gifted individuals who checks all the right boxes of a perfect bluesman. Born in Williamson, Massachusetts, this brilliant singer-songwriter and musician’s two decades of hard work and master-class has earned him the nomination for the Blues Music Award in Blues Rock Album category for his album, Live at the ’62 Center, recorded in his hometown.
Cummings first “big break” came when he was offered the opportunity to work with Double Trouble, the rhythm section for the late Stevie Ray Vaughan.
In 2003, he produced his first solo album; From the Heart in which his soulful approach to blues-rock caught the attention of Blind Pig Records who signed him to a multi-album deal. His label debut, True to Yourself, which was produced by multi-platinum producer and engineer, Jim Gaines (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Carlos Santana, Huey Lewis and the News’), garnered him a lot of recognition and praise. Before long, Cummings was touring and sharing the stage with the likes of blues legends including B.B King, Johnny Winter, and Buddy Guy.
In 2006, Cummings released his second project, Working Man, also produced by the legendary Jim Gaines. This album further solidified his style of music and guitar prowess where Billboard noted, “This recording is the calling card of a star who has arrived.” Cummings first live album Feel So Good, followed in 2008, which was recorded at the historic Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and featured everyone from Will Rogers to Al Jolson. It was a magnetic performance that had people talking including Music Connection, who called it “one of the best live albums recorded in a long time.”
In 2012, Cummings released his No Regrets album which debuted at No. 1 in the U.S., Canada, and France on the iTunes Blues Charts and at No. 5 on the BillboardBlues Charts and in 2015, he recorded Someone Like You with Grammy-winning producer David Z. (Buddy Guy, Prince, Jonny Lang, Gov’t Mule).
Blues Music Awards from the Blues Foundation are recognized as the highest accolade a blues musician can get. Since 1980, the Blues Foundation has been working tirelessly to preserve the heritage of blues music and create a worldwide awareness about it. The 40th Blues Music Awards will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019, in Memphis, TN
