Written by Grammy Award-Winning songwriter Tia Sillers (“I Hope You Dance”) and her late husband, Mark Selby. LaBrie instantly fell in love with the lyrics and jumped at the opportunity to record it, “I am transcended by these lyrics and instantly put in that ‘Joyful’ mood.”
Grammy Award-Winning producer/engineer Charles Yingling (Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Ray Price) and his family got involved lending their voices to the recorded track while also appearing in the music video. Filmed in LaBrie’s backyard in East Nashville, Yingling’s three young girls played and sang with innocence, “…Sing a song of peace, sing of all the gifts that peace can bring, Make a joyful noise and let it ring, For all the world to hear…” reminding the viewer the real meaning of the holidays.
Described by American Songwriteras “…nothing short of breathtaking…,” LaBrie’s most recent album Building we released in September 2020, receiving further praise from outlets like NPR, For Folk Sake, and The Grateful Web. Building offers listeners a journey to self-discovery and reflection with songs about spiritual guidance and finding strength in pain. Excluding LaBrie’s beautiful rendition of Petty’s “Its’s Good to Be King,” the talented wordsmith wrote or co-wrote every track, bringing words of willful hope.
Her songwriting is filled with emotionally-charged lyrics that give a voice to the love and loss in which LaBrie has experienced throughout her life. A diverse lineup of artists have recorded LaBrie’s songs, including Gabe Dixon, Lillie & Madeleine, Joe Robinson and the European DJ, Boogie Pimps. A notable cut of LaBrie’s includes a co-write with Robert Randolph that resulted in, “She Got Soul,” a song off his Grammy-nominated album, Got Soul. Shannon’s music has been featured in many television shows, including Jane By Design, Army Wives, and The Client List, amongst others.
