(Nashville, TN – Jan. 27, 2021) Country singer-songwriter and North Carolina native Andrew Beam is set to release his debut single, “You Should See The Other Guy,” on February 5. Co-written and produced by Joe Taylor at Salt Creek Recording in Bennetts Point, South Carolina, “You Should See The Other Guy” shares the tale of heartbreak and regret after seeing a former lover moving on and happy. With lyrics, “You should see the other guy, he ain’t nothin’ like me, she done found her the kind of man that I couldn’t be,” the song offers a quintessential sentimental appeal with the production of a classic country song.
Beam wrote the song alongside his producer, Joe Taylor, as a modern-day answer to Glen Campbell’s “Gentle On My Mind.” Beam spoke about the track, saying, “The song talks about how he’s a Casanova, guitar-player guy that has a lady in every town. And so, we took that and made our song a twenty-year later realization of, ‘I messed up. I’m a jerk, but you should see the other guy. This guy’s awesome and gave her the life she always wanted.’”
“You Should See the Other Guy” will be available on February 5 and is now available for pre-save HERE.
In recent months, Beam has been in the studio to record a new, original studio album. More details surrounding the forthcoming album will be released in the coming weeks.
Raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Andrew Beam didn’t appreciate the simplicity of the one-stoplight town that’s since graduated to two. Growing up in that one-stoplight town shaped his outlook on life and continues to influence his songwriting. That country state of mind has woven the trail of Beam’s life from his career in law enforcement to inevitable country music singer.
Andrew Beam grew up surrounded by the culture that gave rise to so many great artists, from Don Gibson to Ronnie Milsap, Charlie Daniels to Randy Travis, from Chet Atkins all the way up through Eric Church. The son of a bluegrass picking preacher, Beam learned about roots music at its actual roots: bluegrass festivals, church socials, and front porch get-togethers.
An avid fisherman and serious bowhunter, Clemson University alum Beam was serving as a game warden with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources when a mutual friend introduced him to RCA Victor/Moonwatcher Records producer Joe Taylor. As a result of this meeting, the two became friends and musical partners, and Beam became a full-time writer and artist.
