(Nashville, Tenn. – March 22, 2021) – Brett Kissel has released the video for his new single, “Make A Life, Not A Living” (WATCH HERE). The single is the first song released from his forthcoming studio album, What Is Life? to be released on April 9 (PRE-SAVE/ADD/ORDER HERE).
“Making this video on a farm with my family by my side was such a wonderful experience for us all,” says Kissel. “Being on the farm, on the tractor, and in an old pick-up truck is what life is for me… it’s where we all feel the most at home. Being able to live the lyrics in the song was perfect. It’s truly about the little things and being grateful for what you have and who you have around you. I hope that when people see the video, they can think about what those truly special things are for them and live their best life the same way.”
“Make A Life, Not A Living” set history earlier this month upon its release, picking up the most adds ever in a single week at Canadian country radio.
His forthcoming album What Is Life? is a 14-track collection of original material with ten musical compositions produced by Kissel, Bart McKay, and Jesse Frasure, and four short monologues reflecting on the title What Is Life? from Kissel and his children. Kissel spoke about the new album, saying, “That age-old question is one that I’ve really focused on and centered around for this next phase of my career and for my life. And each and every time, the one thought that is always front and center for me, is doing the best we can with what we have, and making the most of our lives – living the words that I sing in the first song – and I hope that everyone who hears it not just enjoys it, but is also inspired by it.”
Brett Kissel is on Warner Music Canada and has had tremendous success in his home country. Kissel launched in the U.S. in the Fall of 2019 with the release of “Drink About Me.” The music video for the song featured Bachelor Nation fan favorites Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick (view here). The video premiered on Entertainment Tonight and garnered attention from PEOPLE Magazine, OK! Magazine, Bustle, E! News, and many more outlets. The music video received significant airplay on CMT Music and since its release, it has garnered over 35 million streams. Most recently, “Drink About Me” became the first country song nominated at the 2021 JUNO Awards in the Single of the Year category in a decade. Kissel joins an elite group of talent in the category that includes Justin Bieber (“Intentions” [feat. Quavo]), The Weeknd (“Blinding Lights”), JP Saxe (“If The World Was Ending” [feat. Julia Michaels]), and Lennon Stella (“Kissing Other People”).
Since the onset of the pandemic, Kissel has been in the studio writing and recording for his forthcoming new album, What Is Life?. Additionally, he released “A Few Good Stories,” a collaboration with Walk Off The Earth (here and live acoustic here) and the feel-good, up-tempo “She Drives Me Crazy” here.
