(Nashville, Tennessee – Nov. 2, 2022) Nominations are now being accepted for the CRS 2023 Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award.
The Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award is given to an individual in the Country Radio industry with a magnanimous spirit of caring and generosity in service to their local communities. This individual should be fully invested through hands-on action, demonstrating a personal commitment of time, talent, and resources to community causes.
CRS Executive Director, RJ Curtis, comments “Tom Rivers was a successful programmer, air personality, and Country format leader who unselfishly, magnanimously, and anonymously gave assistance to people from his local community who needed it most throughout his career. Tom left us too soon, but CRS proudly honors his generous spirit with this humanitarian award.”
Nominations are due by December 16. To make a nomination, visit here. The recipient of the award will be recognized at CRS 2023 in March.
This award is named in honor of CRB Board member Tom Rivers, who died in 2004 at age 38 of bronchial asthma. Rivers, known for his work at WQYK, Tampa/St. Petersburg and WUSN, Chicago, was highly regarded for his public service. Past recipients of the Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award include Heather Froglear, Lon Helton, “Dollar” Bill Lawson, Dan Halyburton, Peter Smyth, Jeff Smulyan, Mary Quaas, George G. Beasley, and more.
