Ty Herndon & Chrissy Metz Join Forces On Moving New Version of “She Wants To Be Wanted Again” – Out Now!

Ty Herndon and Chrissy Metz

September 19 release will mark the third single from Herndon’s forthcoming

double album career retrospective, THIRTY Vol. 1, due this fall

(NASHVILLE, Tenn. — September 19, 2025) Grammy-nominated country artist Ty Herndon and singer-actor-author Chrissy Metz (“This Is Us”, “The Hunting Wives”) have released a reimagined version of “She Wants To Be Wanted Again” – now available here. First recorded by Herndon and released as a single from his 1996 sophomore album Living In A Moment, the song was written by Billy Henderson and Steven Dale Jones.

“This song has always held a tender place in my story — it’s about longing, second chances, and the simple human need to be truly seen,” said Herndon. “Bringing it back with Chrissy, who sings with such heart and honesty, lets us honor the original while refreshing it for a whole new generation of listeners.”

Originally released in 1996, “She Wants To Be Wanted Again” became a fan favorite and climbed into the Top 30, peaking at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart—helping define the era that made Living In A Moment a signature record in Herndon’s catalog.

The new recording brings to life the natural chemistry between Metz’s honest, resonant vocals and Herndon’s unmistakable tone, framing the lyric with contemporary production that underscores the song’s pulse and heartbreak without losing the classic feel fans know and love.

“I’ve loved this song since the first time I heard it,” said Metz. “There’s a tenderness and vulnerability in the lyric that feels as relevant today as it did in the ’90s. We hope listeners hear themselves in it and feel a little more understood.”

“She Wants To Be Wanted Again” will be available on all major streaming platforms on September 19, marking the third single from Herndon’s forthcoming double album career retrospective. The first installment, THIRTY Vol. 1, is due this fall on his new label home Club44 Records. The project will feature reimagined versions of some of Herndon’s biggest hits and fan favorites, each featuring guest collaborators to bring these classic country hits to life for a new era.

About Ty Herndon

Ty Herndon’s career has been one of remarkable highs and lows. In 2025, he is celebrating the 30th anniversary of his breakout single “What Mattered Most.” Between 1995 and 2002, Herndon charted 17 singles, including three No. 1 hits, and became known for favorites like “I Want My Goodbye Back,” “Loved Too Much,” and “A Man Holding On.” Over the years, he continued to break barriers with albums such as Journey On and Right About Now, while also making history in 2015 as the first major male country artist to come out as gay. His recent album JACOB produced the No. 1 hit “Dents on a Chevy,” a duet with Terri Clark that spent seven weeks at the top of the independent country charts and became the #1 independent country radio single of 2023. His memoir, “What Mattered Most,” will be released on March 31, 2026 on Dey Street Books, an imprint of Harper Collins Publishers.
