New Charlie Daniels Concert DVD, Documentary on Nashville’s Comprehensive Care Center Medical Facility in Works
(Nashville, TN – April 14, 2009) David Corlew, owner of d. corlew films, has begun work on a new Charlie Daniels Band concert DVD, as well as a documentary on Nashville’s Comprehensive Care Center HIV medical facility.
Corlew will travel overseas this month to shoot footage of Daniels’ latest visit to Iraq. This will be the third trip the filmmaker has made to document The Charlie Daniels Band tour of U.S. bases in the Middle East. The CDB documentary follows on the heels of 2007’s successful two-disc CD/DVD set, Live From Iraq, released on Blue Hat/Koch Records.
“I love the challenge of filming in Iraq, but the real reward of a project like this is being able to show my appreciation for the young men and women who are defending our freedom,” says Corlew.
In addition to the Charlie Daniels Band concerts, Corlew will also collect footage during his overseas trip for two additional future projects, to be named in the coming months.
The Comprehensive Care Center is a not-for-profit medical facility in Nashville that conducts research and treats patients with HIV. Corlew first became involved with the organization when he filmed a three-minute promotional clip for a CCC fundraiser. The filmmaker was so moved by the people at the facility and their stories that he requested the facility’s approval to shoot a documentary.
“After spending some time with the patients and staff of the Comprehensive Care Center, I discovered that the CCC is much more than just a medical facility, it’s truly a place where hope lives for all of those faced with this terrible disease,” says Corlew.
The film will feature intimate interviews with patients and staff of the hospital, as well as the history of the clinic itself, which has become one of the most successful AIDS treatment centers in the U.S. since opening in 1994.
In addition to d. corlew films’ current projects, a Charlie Daniels bluegrass Christmas CD/DVD is also scheduled for release later this year.
