Mollin’s Latest Project, “It’s Great To Be A Kid,” Is An
Original Collection of Children’s Songs
(Nashville, Tenn. – November 2, 2021) Amongst years of producing, composing, and film scoring, producer/arranger Fred Mollin is celebrating 2021 as a year of multiple successes. Looking towards 2022, Mollin announces new projects as we anticipate the upcoming year.
Mollin is delving into several upcoming projects, with one of them being Jackie Evancho’s anticipated album, to be released in the first quarter of 2022. He is also working on a debut album for American Idol contestant Stephen Sylvester and an EP for Amy Scruggs, with both projects releasing in early 2022. In addition, Mollin is taking on a project for Canadian songstress, Emm Gryner, which will be recorded this January for an April release.
In 2021, Mollin experienced success with endeavors such as Every Star Above by Mandy Barnett and Kristin Chenoweth’s Christmas album Happiness Is…Christmas. Released just last week via Concord Records, Happiness Is…Christmas offers a collection of covers and even features a duet with Keb’ Mo’ on “Merry Christmas Baby.”
Mollin made the most of the pandemic, as he spent it writing his latest solo release It’s Great To Be A Kid. The album serves as a collection of original children’s songs and is one of Mollin’s most personal pieces of work, as he originally began writing the songs for his two grandchildren. Released in March of 2021, the album is about the wonders of youth and offers a glimpse of hope for the future. It’s Great To Be A Kid features a total of 15 songs with four songs sung by Mollin, himself, along with appearances from Troy Johnson, Tania Hancheroff, and Caryn Richman.
Mollin reflects, “2021 was a year that saw important projects released in spite of the pandemic with wonderful artists such as Kristin Chenoweth, Carter Beckworth, and Mandy Barnett, as well as my kids’ project for the little ones to help them get through a tough time. This year also found me completing the soon-to-be-released album by the phenomenal Jackie Evancho.”
Mollin has spent decades working in film/TV, music, and production. Mollin has an extensive background and has “done it all”, from producing duets for renowned artists such as Billy Joel and Willie Nelson to playing a significant role in the success of classics in TV entertainment. Mollin is a chameleon in the entertainment world, shifting gears from working on mediums such as Paramount’s “Friday The 13th” television series to working in the child entertainment realm.
Mollin has produced critically acclaimed albums such as Jimmy Webb’s Ten Easy Pieces and Kris Kristofferson’s The Austin Sessions. A sample from Mollin’s recent record years includes two GRAMMY® nominated albums with Johnny Mathis with Sending You a Little Christmas and Let It Be Me: Mathis In Nashville, Volume 1 and 2 of Jimmy Webb’s Americana duet albums, Just Across the River and Still Within the Sound of My Voice, Back Pages by America, Natural History by JD Souther, Rita Wilson’s albums, AM-FM and Bigger Picture, Rumer’s Nashville Tears and the historic album event, Reimagination by Motown icon, Lamont Dozier.
Mollin has spent the past 20 years producing duets with artists such as Vince Gill, Natalie Cole, Gloria Estefan, Linda Ronstadt, Lucinda Williams, Michael McDonald, Mark Knopfler, Chris Cornell, Lyle Lovett, Art Garfunkel, Jackson Browne, and countless others. Once serving as Vice President for A&R at Walt Disney Records in California, Mollin has produced over 30 album projects for Disney. His most prominent work was Disney’s best-selling Lullaby Album (Billboard Magazine’s second best-selling children’s album in 2001 and gold album), with others including sidecar soundtracks for Finding Nemo, Lilo & Stitch, Cars, Ratatouille, and more.
