Award Winning and Chart Topping Songwriters, Casey Beathard, Luke Laird and Phil O’Donnell Help Raise Fund for Multicultural Camp
(Nashville, Tenn. – Sept. 26, 2011) Barefoot In the Round, the Oct. 27 dinner and fundraiser for Barefoot Republic Camp, celebrates Nashville’s singer-songwriter tradition while raising money to support Barefoot Republic Camp, an interdenominational, multicultural summer camp for children of all economic and racial backgrounds. Over 400 individuals are expected to attend the event, which is made possible through our sponsors, which include Tennessee Bank & Trust; Leslie McGilberry, CPA; Northwestern Mutual; Balfour Sevan; Old Harding Pediatric Associates; Fifth Third Bank; Provident Music Group/Sony Entertainment; and Youth Ministry Architects.
Along with a seated dinner and wine, the evening will feature performances by singer-songwriters Casey Beathard, who was nominated for a Grammy for the George Strait hit “The Breath You Take;” Luke Laird, whose hits include Carrie Underwood’s “Temporary Home;” and Phil O’Donnell, author of Montgomery Gentry’s “Back When I Knew It All.”
“Thanks to these great entertainers who donated their time to help support our kids, Barefoot In the Round will be our most exciting fundraiser ever,” says Jan Butler, president of Butler Interior Design and co-chairman of the Barefoot event.
The evening’s In the Round theme also symbolizes the camp’s mission: to promote values of love, understanding, and unity by bringing together children from diverse socio-economic, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds in an affirming and encouraging outdoor setting.
“The money we’ll raise for scholarships during our dinner will help give more kids the chance to attend camp next summer. Water sports, extreme sports, athletics, arts and action adventure are just some of the tools camp counselors use to build friendships with children from different backgrounds,” says Barefoot’s Executive Director Tommy Rhodes. Over 60 percent of the 450 children who come to camp every summer receive at least partial scholarships. “No child is turned away because of the inability to pay,” Rhodes says.
Individual dinner tickets are still available for $50. The event takes place at 6:00 pm in the Embassy Suites Hotel in Franklin. Call 615-599-9383 to reserve now, and support the kids of the Barefoot Republic.
