Billy Ray Cyrus made a surprise appearance last night (Sept. 28) with Johnny Cash’s band, Rufnex, at Station Inn in Nashville, Tenn.
Cyrus joined the band for an intimate, captivating set opening with Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” followed by bluegrass jams, and a tribute to George Jones with a rendition of “He Stopped Loving Her Today”.
“[I’m] up way past my bed time, but it was worth it! What a jam! Truly an honor,” Cyrus said.
Cyrus recently released his 14th studio album Thin Line, featuring Joe Perry, Shooter Jennings and his children on select tracks, earlier this month. The title track’s music video debuted worldwide last week on Vevo.com and is currently airing on CMT.
“Thin Line” was shot entirely on Cyrus’ expansive property in Middle Tenn. by director Blake Judd (Black Stone Cherry, Shooter Jennings, Thomas Rhett) and exposes faith, passion, and the power of music through Cyrus’ perspective. The music video offers viewers a peek into Cyrus’ southern home as he wanders through the spaces that flood with memories and the prized possessions in which inspire him—including a handwritten note from Johnny Cash in 1992.
Cyrus shares his creative process in behind-the-scenes footage here. Thin Line is now available at major digital retailers, including iTunes and Amazon.
