(Nashville, TN – June 21, 2010)
In recognition of his lifetime support of American troops at home and overseas, Charlie Daniels is this year’s recipient of the Operation Troop Aid Patriot Award. OTA Executive Director Mark Woods presented Daniels with the award and an honorary OTA board membership at the legendary musician’s annual fan club party, held June 9 in Mt. Juliet, Tenn. Operation Troop Aid (OTA) is a 501 C (3) nonprofit organization that raises funds through entertainment initiatives to send care packages to deployed U.S. Troops. The Operation Troop Aid Patriot Award was first awarded in 2006 to pay tribute to artists and/or entertainers that demonstrate exceptional support of the troops, whether traveling overseas, visiting the wounded in stateside hospitals, or conducting benefit concerts.
