(Nashville, TN – Oct. 20, 2010) Nashville-based independent label FUNL Music hosted a special industry event Tuesday night at Mercy Lounge that included funnel cakes, hand-squeezed lemonade and new music from label mates Amber Hayes and Ty Herndon.
The double-feature event kicked off with a set from rising artist Amber Hayes, whose current single, “C’mon,” is positioned to move into the Top 40 on the Music Row chart. Hayes performed a handful of material from her 2010 debut EP, including “Wait,” “Right As Rain” and “C’mon.” In addition to a pair of brand new tracks, she also unveiled a swampy, blues-infused cover of Dolly Parton’s classic “9 to 5” to the delight of the more than 150 attendees on hand.
Herndon took the stage for the second half of the show, mixing in chart-toppers like “What Mattered Most” and “Living in a Moment” with material from his latest project, including the title track from the album, “Journey On.” Herndon revealed that the song has been selected as part of a special campaign to fight ALS in partnership with former NFL player Kevin Turner’s charity foundation. Herndon also performed “When We Fly,” the song that earned him a Dove Award earlier this year for Gospel Bluegrass Song of the Year. During the sets from Hayes and Herndon, the crowd was treated to mini funnel cakes and fresh-squeezed lemonade.
