(Nashville, Tennessee – May 1, 2025) Texas country artist Garrett Bradford is set to release his new single, “Firefly,” on all streaming platforms via H.O.T. Records tomorrow, May 2 (pre-save here). The song marks the latest release from his upcoming EP, Honkiest of Tonkers – Act II, due out May 23, 2025.
A nostalgic ode to a vanishing way of life, “Firefly” paints a vivid portrait of rural America before corporate expansion took over the landscape. Co-written by Bradford and Greg Manuel Sr., the heartfelt track captures the bittersweet memories of simpler times — evenings spent catching fireflies, open fields stretching for miles, and a community rooted in agriculture and tradition. Through soulful storytelling and traditional country sounds, Bradford questions what progress truly costs when it replaces the small, magical moments that once defined home.
“Firefly” follows the release of Bradford’s earlier single, “She Loves Horses,” and leads into the full Honkiest of Tonkers – Act II EP, which also features a brand-new radio version of Bradford’s breakout track, “This Way of Life” — the song featured in Yellowstone Season 3, Episode 9 that became the most Shazammed country song in the U.S. the day after it aired.
Earlier this year, Honkiest of Tonkers – Act I earned widespread praise for its unapologetically traditional sound, producing standout tracks like “Watching You Burn,” “Do You (I Do),” and “Bad Girl Good.” The project placed Bradford on key playlists, including Spotify’s All New Country, CMT’s Roundup, ACM’s Fresh New Finds, and Apple Music’s New in Country. He was also named one of Country Evolution’s Artists to Watch in 2025.
The Rocking Magpie praised Bradford’s work as: “Pure, classically old-fashioned, 100% hardcore Texas honky tonk… Bradford is the real deal.”
Raised on a ranch in Weatherford, Texas, Bradford’s music is steeped in authenticity, rooted in the Western lifestyle he lived firsthand. His upbringing in ranching and rodeo, paired with his natural gift for songwriting and performing, makes him a compelling storyteller whose songs capture the heart and soul of the American West.
Bradford made his breakthrough with the 2020 release of his debut EP, fueled by the success of “This Way of Life,” which climbed to #32 on the iTunes Country Top 40 Chart following its Yellowstone debut. Taylor Sheridan — acclaimed writer, producer, and director behind Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Landman, and Lioness — played a pivotal role in reigniting Garrett’s music career, encouraging him to lean into his authentic voice.
In 2023, Bradford was named the songwriting winner of Texas Songwriter U, a prestigious program hosted by Jack Ingram, Liz Rose, and BMI. With over 60,000 monthly streams and a growing fanbase, Bradford has performed over 600 shows across Texas and beyond.
Now splitting his time between Nashville and Texas, Bradford continues honing his craft with some of country music’s most respected songwriters, including Leslie Satcher (“Troubadour”/George Strait), Tom Douglas (“House That Built Me”/Miranda Lambert), and Phil O’Donnell (“Give It All We Got Tonight”/George Strait).
Blending authentic Texas grit with compelling storytelling and dynamic performances, Honkiest of Tonkers – Act II promises to be a standout release for true country fans.
