Releases New Spin on Popular Movie Hit, “Man of Constant
Sorrow”Premieres Official Music Video for “Man of Constant Sorrow”
(Nashville, Tenn. – May. 6, 2019) –AC Thomas, the duo comprised of brothers Austin and Chad Thomas, have released their debut EP, Paradox, which is now available through all streaming platforms and digital retailers. The EP, is produced by Sean Giovanni, written and co-produced by Austin and Chad Thomas and Johnny Boy.
“We believe traditional songs can live in a modern world. This EP represents six singles that bring together multiple genres that have influenced us throughout our lives. We never felt pressure from the idea of fitting into one sound or one genre, so we’ve always written our songs with the goal of expressing just how we feel,” said the duo about their debut release.
The EP takes listeners on a journey through the many layers of the band’s songwriting and artistry, from a collection of memories in “Sweet Tea,” to giving sexual assault victims a voice in “Anybody Out There,” the project has something for music fans across all genres.
Along with the release of the EP, the duo has also dropped a new single; a modern remake of the popular Grammy winning song, “Man of Constant Sorrow,” from the 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou?
“We have always loved the movie ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?,’ and connected with the lyrics of ‘Man of Constant Sorrow,’ a track that is featured in the film. We wanted to release our own take on the track with an urban spin and it is now serving as the focal track for our debut EP,” explained the duo.
To coincide with the release of the single, the duo is premiering the official music video for “Man of Constant Sorrow.” Directed by Stokes Nielson, the video features the duo driving through backroads on the run from the police (view here). Following the premiere, the video will be distributed to a panel of national, syndicated, closed circuit, Internet and regional outlets.
Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, the brothers formed the duo, AC Thomas in the Summer of 2012. Chad Thomas is the quietly intense singer with the soulful voice who slips seamlessly into playing the part of the high energy showman, while Austin Thomas is sure not to be outshined; he delivers punchy, danceable rhymes that keep fans young and old wanting more of this new sound. Together they hit a winning formula of “Country Slang” that garnered the attention needed to take them the distance. The duo is signed to Birmingham Entertainment, working with industry veterans Butch Waugh and Skip Bishop, managed by Tim Chance and distributed by Intercept Music.
