(Nashville, Tenn. – Sept. 19, 2014) – J. Michael Harter is set to release his new EP, Ride On, on Sept. 30 on Anozira Records/GMV Nashville. The release follows Harter’s launch of his current single, titled “Holy Cowgirl,” which is receiving positive feedback and airplay at Country radio and in dance venues across the United States.
The album, which is produced by J. Michael’s brother, Scott Harter, and Matt McClure will be available on iTunes and other major digital retailers. Harter commented that Ride On contains some of the most special and refreshing music he’s ever written, including bonus tracks “Another Trip,” and a dance remix to single “Holy Cowgirl.” He is currently in the midst of an extended radio tour in support of the single and album.
Harter, a former member of brother-sister trio, The Harters, commented on the development of the EP, “For the past three years I have attended the Bristol Bay Nashville Songwriters Retreat in Alaska. In fact, several of the songs on the EP were written on these retreats. Myself, my brother Scott, Earl Bud Lee (“Friends in Low Places,” “Who Are You When I’m Not Looking”), Bruce Wallace, and Scott Laurent are the writers that make up what we call ‘The Fighting Chums.’ Chum Salmon is among the several species of fish we catch on the trip. Our track “The Only One” was the starting point for this whole project, and it was the first song ‘The Fighting Chums’ wrote in Alaska. Bruce Wallace started strumming his Gibson acoustic then my brother and I joined in. Before I could say, “damn that’s kind of cool,” Scott Laurent and Bud Lee were already spitting out lyrics. It turned out to be a killer power ballad that I had to record!”
A Tempe, Ariz. native, Harter’s music blends up-beat Country melodies with profound lyrics and a unique Western flair. He is managed by Hallmark Direction Company’s John Dorris Sr.
Of the new music, Harter says, “I am striving to be part of the pendulum swinging the other way to lyrically driven songs that would make you cry, laugh, or make you remember something that touches your heart.”
