Wins Album of the Year and Contemporary Blues Album of the Year for first-ever collaboration project with Taj Mahal, and Contemporary Blues Male Artist of The Year
(Nashville, Tenn. – May 11, 2018) Singer, songwriter, guitarist and modern day Blues and Americana artist, Keb’ Mo’ was among the list of big winners at the 39th Annual Blues Music Awards, which took place last night in Memphis at the Cook Convention Center. Keb’ Mo’, alongside Blues Hall of Famer Taj Mahal, was awarded Album of the Year and Contemporary Blues Album of the Year for their first-ever collaboration project, TajMo. Keb’ also took home the title of Contemporary Blues Male Artist of The Year.
The awards, which are presented by the Memphis-based Blues Foundation, are universally recognized as the highest accolade afforded blues music performers. The ceremony is the premier event for blues professionals, musicians, and fans from all over the world.
Keb’ Mo’, who has often cited Taj as one of his musical heroes, is a 4-time GRAMMY Winner who has collaborated with everyone from Bonnie Raitt to Jackson Browne and Buddy Guy. Keb’ has also performed at multiple Crossroads Guitar Festivals and at In Performance at the White House: Red, White and Blues in 2012. Taj Mahal has been recording and performing his unmistakable blend of blues and world music for over 50 years, winning multiple GRAMMYS and collaborating with the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and more along the way.
Released on May 5, 2017, via Concord Records, TajMo is a cross-generational collaboration that merges the two artists’ distinctive voices and guitar styles. The project, which won Best Contemporary Blues Album at the 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards earlier this year, features guest appearances by Sheila E., Joe Walsh, Lizz Wright and Bonnie Raitt.
