A Four-Time GRAMMY Award-Winner, Marking his 12th Career GRAMMY Nomination
(Nashville, Tenn. — Nov. 20, 2019) After winning a 2018 GRAMMY for his collaborative work with Taj Mahal on TajMo, Keb’ Mo’ returns with his 12th career GRAMMY nomination with his album Oklahoma, for Best Americana Album, receiving his second nomination is this category. The 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards will air Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 7 p.m. CST.
In his quarter-century as a recording artist, the charismatic singer/guitarist/songwriter and four-time GRAMMY Award winner has consistently made music that reflects his own passions and interests. In the process, he’s earned a reputation for his ability to draw upon his bottomless roots-music expertise to make deeply expressive, highly personal music.

With noted musical veteran Colin Linden (The Band, Bruce Cockburn) heading up production duties, the album’s ten tracks encompass Keb’ Mo’s diverse talents, with the artist delivering some of the most adventurous and personal work of his career.
During WMOT’s Wired In AmericanaFest Session held in Nashville, Tenn., good friend Garth Brooks hosted a conversation with Keb’ focusing solely on Oklahoma. Brooks admired Keb’ Mo’ on his ability to face difficult subject matter through talented storytelling. “You’re guiding but not preaching… stepping into the political arena without picking a color but making sure the message is heard… but you don’t sit on the fence; you have your point of view,” in which Keb’ Mo’ responded, “Don’t point fingers and tell it as a story, never preach.” The conversation perfectly exemplified the entirety and importance that Oklahoma stands for. “I got to a place where I understood the anatomy of how lyrics can work, and how I can use them to put some substance into the song,” Keb’ says of his writing style for Oklahoma, “It’s like jelly donuts. I don’t even like jelly donuts, but you know that every time you bite into one, there’s gonna be something inside. At some point, I realized that you have to tell a story in some way, shape or form, and this record is a continuation of that realization.”
