In addition, on the heels of being awarded the Best Contemporary Blues Award by the Blues Foundation in Memphis, Tenn., Keb’ Mo’ is on a steady streak of notable appearances throughout his new home state of Tennessee; all leading up to his Aug. 28 appearance at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
Keb’ Mo’ launched into his series of appearances on April 23, when he appeared at the 5th Annual Americana Spring Celebration held at Blackberry Farms in East Tennessee. Keb’ joined the lineup that also featured Sheryl Crow and Holly Williams. He then helped kick-off the Americana Music Triangle at The Franklin Theatre on May 4. The Triangle, which has been in the works for more than three years, is a multi-state project, designed to promote a 1,500 mile stretch of highway that birthed nine uniquely American genres of music — Blues, Jazz, Country, Rock ‘n’ Roll, R&B/Soul, Gospel, Southern Gospel, Cajun/Zydeco and Bluegrass. Keb’ Mo’ appeared and performed at the launch party, which was attended by Governor Haslam and other dignitaries and music executives.
This past Saturday, May 9, Keb’ Mo’ performed on “A Prarie Home Companion” with Garrison Keillor in front of a live audience at the Ryman Auditorium. During the show, he performed his hit-song, “The Worst Is Yet To Come,” “Henry” and was joined by Ricky Skaggs for a special performance of “Infinite Eyes.” The show can be heard here.
On May 16, Keb’ will join the lineup for “Help Rebuild Nepal,” a benefit concert at City Winery Nashville featuring performances by Jack Pearson, Phil Keaggy, and more. Tickets start at $30 and are available for purchase here. On June 12, he will return to Memphis to perform at Mud Island Amphitheater and will open for Robert Plant.
One of the most anticipated shows in the Music City is his performance on Aug. 28 at the Nashville Schermerhorn Sympony Center. The concert is one of the highlighted stops on his worldwide tour and will feature some of his most popular material and songs off his most recent album release, BLUESAmericana. The show is at 8 p.m. and tickets are available for purchase here.
