Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter wows Elvis fans around the globe with “Amazing Graceland” tribute from new album, Hear Me Now
(Nashville, Tenn. – Aug. 9, 2011) Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter/performer Deborah Allen is confirmed for multiple appearances during Memphis’ historic Elvis Week, held Aug. 10-16, after her “Amazing Graceland” tribute video was featured on the front page at Elvis.com.
Allen is performing Sunday, Aug. 14, at George Klein’s Memphis Mafia Reunion at 4:30 p.m. (Alfred’s, 197 Beale St.) and at the Graceland Pavilion at 7 p.m CDT. She will also appear on SiriusXM’s “The Elvis Hour,” broadcast during the Candlelight Vigil on Monday, Aug. 15, at 8 p.m. Other appearances will be posted as they are confirmed at Allen’s website, www.DeborahAllen.com.
“Amazing Graceland” has received thousands of views and positive comments from around the world on the official Elvis Presley website (www.Elvis.com) and Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/Elvis). The song is included on Allen’s latest album, Hear Me Now, which is officially released on Tuesday, Aug. 16.
Allen wrote “Amazing Graceland” as a tribute to Presley after her first visit to Elvis’ Graceland mansion in 2009, though Allen’s connection to The King goes back to her childhood days. A Memphis native, Allen’s parents designed the interior of Elvis’ tour bus, and as little girls Deborah and her sister would often camp out inside the blue velvet and gold-decorated vehicle. Allen would later become a WHBQtie on Memphis DJ George Klein’s popular television program. Klein is hosting the Memphis Mafia Reunion on Aug. 14, which each year brings former friends and associates of Elvis’ together to share stories and reflect on their experiences with the legendary artist.
“I could feel Elvis’ spirit in every room,” says Allen of the visit to Graceland that inspired her moving tribute. “I was so moved. On the way back to Nashville, the one word that kept going through my head was ‘amazing.’ As soon as I walked in my back door, I went straight to the piano and began writing this song as a tribute for the international legend, my hometown hero and the beautiful place he called home.”
Hear Me Now includes Allen’s current single, the danceable Country-shuffle “Anything Other Than Love,” which continues its steady climb up the Music Row chart. The 12 songs on the album reflect Allen’s overall versatility as a singer and songwriter, as well as her trademark ability to incorporate elements of Country, Blues, Pop, Rock and Gospel into her music. Allen also produced nine of the album’s 12 tracks.
Hear Me Now will be available Aug. 16 at retail stores and through all major digital outlets, including iTunes, Amazon, Napster, Rhapsody and more. The album is released in a joint venture with Nashville-based digital label, GMV Nashville.
