New Feature Single “Missin’ You in San Antone” – Out Now!
(Nashville, TN – July 28, 2023) Multi-CCMA award-winning country artist Brett Kissel has released his newest single and feature track for the approaching West Album, which is the third-part of his ambitious musical endeavor, The Compass Project. The track, titled “Missin’ You in San Antone,” is now available to stream here, and the anticipated album is set to be available this fall.
West Album will bring to life one of Kissel’s truest musical and thematic loves – traditional country and western music. It dives into the tales and topics that have been the lifeblood of country music since the beginning – love, loss, the land, and lovers.
One of those tales is Kissel’s newest single, “Missin’ You in San Antone.” The song is an upbeat, country-swing number with incredible instrumental accompaniment that details the story of a lost love and hopes of reigniting an old flame.
Kissel spoke on the release of the new single, saying “I’ve been in love with what we’d call ‘classic country swing’ since forever. I’ve always wanted to write and record something that sounded like a George Strait song. The melody, the captivating fiddle and piano, and the way it all comes together with lyrics that tell the classic story of yearning for a lost love – that’s quintessential, heartfelt, toe-tappin’, classic country…and that is ‘Missin’ You in San Antone.’”
The song brilliantly showcases the classic fiddle strings played by Tyler Vollrath, a recipient of the esteemed CCMA Hall of Honour award and a long-standing band member of over two decades. Vollrath, who has been touring with Brett Kissel since the artist was only 12 years old, has made significant contributions to many of Kissel’s albums. However, this “super-country” album, with its first Western-swing single, truly highlights the immense talent of both Kissel’s band and Kissel himself.
On Instagram live, Brent Mason, one of the most recorded guitarists in history, recorded Vollrath’s solos for his many followers to see. As the Kissel band tuned in, Mason gave tremendous props to all the players, which included another CCMA Hall of Honour recipient – Bart McKay, who co-produced the album and played keys on the song.
As well as being a Grammy Award-winning artist, Mason is also a 14-time winner of the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Guitarist of the Year Award, and a two-time winner of the CMA Award Musician of the Year (being nominated every year since 1991). He has been named as one of the top ten session guitarists in the world, joining the ranks of Jimmy Page, Larry Carlton, Tommy Tedesco, and Steve Cropper. Brent has played on well over a thousand albums and continues to add to this extensive resume.
Kissel, a prominent figure in the Canadian music scene, has achieved remarkable success in his home country. Known for his charismatic personality, dynamic stage presence, and unique music style, Brett has soared to the top of the Canadian Country music charts. With 24 CCMA awards, three JUNO awards (equivalent to the American Grammy), two Gold-certified albums, a Platinum record, eight Gold singles, and an impressive track record of 15 top-10 radio hits, his talent and popularity are undeniable. Kissel has toured with Brad Paisley and Garth Brooks and collaborated with Grammy winners Charley Pride, Dave Mustaine, Nelly, and 98°.
