(Nashville, Tenn. – May 19, 2015) The Nashville Business Journal has named Tatum Allsep, Founder and Executive Director of Music Health Alliance, as one of their 2015 Health Care Heroes. She is the first-ever recipient of the Healthcare Hero Advocate Award. Allsep was selected for her contributions to Music City’s health community by a panel of health care industry judges. Allsep, along with this year’s other honorees, will be recognized at an awards luncheon on May 20 at Omni Nashville Hotel, and also in a special publication in the May 22 print edition of the Nashville Business Journal.
Allsep first began to understand the music industry’s need for healthcare support while working with the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and after her own struggles with health care coverage. Through a process of exploring profit-based alternatives, Allsep became convinced that the only way to put client’s needs first was to remove the profit motive. The result was Music Health Alliance (MHA), a 501(c)3 non-profit that engages a completely new and unique model that provides a full spectrum of health care services and support. Today Music Health Alliance provides healthcare solutions to the music industry based solely on the client’s specific needs in a safe and trusted environment.
The mission of Music Health Alliance is to Heal the Music by providing access to healthcare through services that PROTECT, DIRECT & CONNECT music professionals with medical and financial solutions. In two short years, they have saved over $5.5 million dollars in insurance premiums, reduction of medical bills, and prescription savings to heal the music across the nation.
