Inspired by Markson, a breast cancer survivor, “Gonna Get It All” sends the message to pursue your dreams and not live with regret
(Nashville, Tenn. – Nov. 20, 2020) – Billboard charting artist, Nicole Markson, has released a new single titled, “Gonna Get It All.” The fun, lively pop/dance jam is co-written by Markson, Clare Reynolds, and multi-Platinum Grammy award-winning songwriter and producer Dave Audé. Inspired by Markson, a breast cancer survivor, Markson was compelled to write the song to unveil her truth and tell the vulnerable story of regret and the long, challenging journey it took her to finally “get here” after overcoming her battle with cancer. Markson hopes to inspire her listeners by sharing her story, music, and message. Dave Audé, whose resume includes working with some of the most successful artists in music, including Sting, Celine Dion, Bruno Mars, LeAnn Rimes, Cher, Demi Lovato, and more, is credited for producing the new track.
A vibrant, high-energy music video for “Gonna Get It All” has been shot and will be released in the coming days. The video was executive produced by Leigh Brannon, directed by Steven Shepard, shot by acclaimed director of photography Roger Pistole, and styled by celebrity stylist Gina Ketchum.
Markson plans to release a ballad version of the song next month, featuring “Out For Souls,” a 19-person choir led by Cedric P. Sesley. “Out for Souls” has toured all over the country and shared the stage with LeAnn Rimes, Donnie McClurkin, and Fantasia. The choir’s part of the ballad version was recorded separately at Backstage at Sound Stage Studios in Nashville, TN, and was produced by Dave Audé.
Known for her bold voice and unique style of electronic, dance, pop, and R&B, Markson has loved dance music ever since she could remember. As a teenager, she idolized all the greats, like Donna Summer, Madonna, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, and Barbara Streisand, and she often sang along to their records. Markson has been studying voice with Don Lawrence (Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, etc.) for years.
After college, Markson began performing in musical theater productions, cabarets, off-Broadway plays, and lending her voice to jingle commercials and working as a voice-over artist.
Instead of pursuing her true passion of singing, she became an entrepreneur. She became a leader in the automotive field, appearing on television as an automotive expert on ABC World News Tonight with Diane Sawyer, Nightline, and CNBC’s Closing Bell. She was also a radio host for three years on the automotive talk show “The Autolab” on 97.1 “The Answer” in NYC. She has also contributed articles for “She Buys Cars,” “Vroom Girls” and “Traveling Moms.” She then became a best-selling author for a book she co-authored with Steve Forbes called “Successonomics.”
In 2009, Markson was diagnosed with breast cancer, which stopped her life in its tracks. This life-altering event had a profound effect on her. After deep soul searching and self-reflection, she realized that one of her biggest regrets was not pursuing her singing career. While recovering from a double mastectomy and chemotherapy, Markson made the decision and promised herself she would return to music as soon as she recovered. She decided to go into the studio to start writing, recording and performing. In 2013, Markson started her own band and began performing at iconic east coast venues such as The Saint, The Bitter End, Revolution and Harlem Nights.
Markson released her first single, “Higher than Heaven,” in 2014, which is about overcoming tragedy. The song was picked up by Music Lov3rz Independent Radio and got more than 70K streams. It was also featured in Music Lov3rz Magazine. She also received glowing reviews from critics at The Ark of Music and Stereo Stickman.
Markson then signed her first Independent Record Deal to release “Higher Than Heaven – The Remixes” with the label 418 Music, which Billboard ranked as the No. 1 Independent Dance and Club Imprint Label. “Higher Than Heaven – The Remixes” climbed to #39 on the Billboard dance chart, making Markson a Billboard-charting Artist for the first time.
Markson has been traveling to Nashville every month for the last two years to write and record with Dave Audé, one of the remixing producers on “Higher than Heaven.” They’ve been developing Markson’s sound and creating a new body of musical works while collaborating with other songwriters in the Nashville community.
Markson is excited to release music over the next few months and share all her new creations with the world. Her mission is to use her story, message, and music to inspire people everywhere to never give up, never give in, and always live their dream.
