Now Available on iTunes and Other Major Digital Retailers
Follows the release of his second single, “Birthday Happy”
(Nashville, Tenn. – September 24, 2013) Country artist Robby Armstrong has released his self-titled debut album, which is now available for purchase on iTunes and other major digital retailers. The release comes after the launch of his second single, “Birthday Happy,” which is at Country radio now.
Co-produced by Armstrong and Darrell Brown (LeAnn Rimes, Ty Herndon, Radney Foster), the album features 13 tracks, 12 of which were either written or co-written by Armstrong.
“Robby gives and gives 100% of himself when he writes and performs a song. Holding himself back is never an option,” said Armstrong’s co-producer, Darrell Brown. “I love that about Robby” Armstrong adds, “This record cuts to the bone with truth.”
The track list includes Armstrong’s debut single “Rodeo” and his current release “Birthday Happy.” A music video for “Birthday Happy” was shot by Chris Hicky and can be viewed at CMT.com.
Three songs from Armstrong’s album, “Rodeo,” “Birthday Happy,” and “Smokin’ and Drinkin’,” are also featured in the upcoming October release of the major motion picture, Gambit (featuring Cameron Diaz, Colin Firth), wherein he and his band make a cameo appearance. The songs are also on the official soundtrack. Additionally, “Rodeo” is featured in The Sims video game and has been heard at Angels’ stadium as the Los Angeles Angels’ rally song.
A California native, Armstrong started playing in a band in his early teens. He currently resides in Huntington Beach where he writes, plays, and produces his unique brand of Country music. With a Rock & Roll twist on his Country sound and heartfelt lyrics, Armstrong has a sound and style that is identifiably his own.
In addition to building his career, his heart has led him and his wife to help several causes in the Long Beach area – from homeless children to animal adoption. He serves as musical director for a Public Television show in the Seal Beach area; he puts a pet on camera each week, and writes a song on the spot about the animal – usually resulting in an adoption. Armstrong also hosts his own show in the area that has resulted in revealing interviews with such musical notables as writer and producer Darrell Brown and the legendary engineer Niko Bolas (who also engineered Robby’s album). The program was awarded an honor from the WAVE awards, placing in the top three of over 500 entries.
In July, Armstrong produced his fist musical score for the children’s eBook, Samuel T. Moore of Corte Magore (Skies America Publishing, 2013), which is now available on iTunes. The book teaches children about courage and tenacity, to stand up and fight for what they believe in.
A CD release party for Robby Armstrong is planned for September 24 at 7 p.m. at Nadine’s Irish Mist in Sunset Beach, Calif.
