Independent act debuts on Billboard at No. 59 with new single, “One Thing Beautiful”
(Nashville, Tenn. – July 14, 2010) Following its debut this week at No. 59 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart, rising Country act Rocket Club arrives in Nashville for a three-night string of industry showcases, starting Monday, July 19.
The Minneapolis, Minnesota-based group performs July 19 at The Rutledge (5:30 p.m.), followed by an acoustic showcase Tuesday, July 20, at 3rd & Lindsley (5 p.m.). The band’s third showcase is Wednesday, July 21, at 12th & Porter at 6 p.m. The three nights of consecutive showcases are Rocket Club’s first Nashville performances.
“We wanted to invite the Nashville industry out to experience what the buzz was about with Rocket Club and to hear for themselves how a band from the ‘North Country,’ without a label, could chart singles and be one of the hottest things on programmers’ playlists,” says Rocket Club manager and former Warner Music senior executive Chris Palmer. “Trying to get industry out to a showcase can be daunting, so we decided to schedule three consecutive nights in the hopes that if someone couldn’t make Monday, maybe they could make Tuesday or Wednesday.”
Without a label or radio promotion support, Rocket Club has debuted its second Billboard-charting single in the past year. “One More Day,” the band’s self-produced 2009 single, was initially written in support of local Minneapolis-based recovery center and charity, Faith’s Lodge (www.FaithsLodge.org). After unexpectedly catching the attention of radio, the song eventually charted for seven weeks, peaking at No. 49.
Rocket Club’s current single, “One Thing Beautiful,” debuted at No. 59 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart this week and has received a wealth of buzz at radio, including continuous requests on K102’s “Top 5 Most Wanted” program.
“Pinning Rocket Club down isn’t easy,” says KEEY Program Director Gregg Swedberg. “It’s a wide variety of influences, a ton of energy and talent, and hooky melodies. This band really can’t be simplified down to any one thing – except really good.”
Rocket Club’s unconventional path to radio success is built on a unique sound and style, featuring two lead vocalists and a powerful live show. In recent months, the band has performed alongside artists including Eric Church, Joe Nichols, David Nail, Josh Thompson and the Oak Ridge Boys, with many shows selling out.
The band recently completed its latest EP and is looking to release the project in the coming months.
