(Nashville, Tenn. – Aug. 17, 2020) – Following the recent announcement of Shannon Labrie’s upcoming LP release, Building, available on Sept. 25, the “Firewalker” singer-songwriter has delivered a new track off the album, titled “Raining Hallelujah.” A timely song centered on perseverance and resilience, journalist Johnathan Frahm with For Folk Sake recently spoke about the track, calling it “a reminder that kindness and healing is just around the bend… packaged in intimate roots rock that speaks straight to the heart of overarching society.” “Raining Hallelujah” is now available and can be heard HERE. LaBrie’s upcoming album, Building is also now available for digital pre-save HERE and physical pre-order HERE.
Written alongside Tia Sillers (Lee Ann Womack, The Dixie Chicks, Trisha Yearwood), the two talented wordsmiths created a song with an optimistic view when looking for a light at the end of the tunnel. “Above every storm is a cloudless sky waiting for you and me,” LaBrie sings as she is supported by a choir of soulful singers echoing her ambitious call. “The sun is always shining down on us, we just can’t see it sometimes,” Shannon says of the track, ”no matter where we are in life, the earth is always turning, and the sun will come again.”
LaBrie has already started to garner attention for her forthcoming album, Building, through the first released track off the record, a heroic anthem titled “Firewalker.” Landing on NPR’s “Favorite Songs of 2020 So Far” list, they described the song as “a spirited statement to keep soldiering on,” while American Songwriter calls it “a ray of light that can guide you through each day.” The music video for “Firewalker” was directed by Roger Pistole (Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, Cage the Elephant) and is receiving airplay at MTVU and CMT Edge.
Written in 2019, each song on the forthcoming album holds significant importance and relevance, now more than ever. Building offers a journey to self-discovery and reflection with songs about finding strength in pain and perseverance. LaBrie reminds listeners that life is an ever-changing tide that continues to build with each experience acting as a building block to the next, “I can’t think of a better word to describe this thing we call ‘life’ than the word ‘building’,” she says of the title track. LaBrie wrote or co-wrote each song on the album, aside from her rendition of Tom Petty’s “Good To Be King.” The album is produced by multi-Grammy Award-winners, Brent Maher and Charles Yingling, and was recorded at Nashville’s The Blueroom Studios.
Recently, LaBrie teamed up with local Nashville restaurants to spotlight how they are safely starting to reopen during the current pandemic and following the destruction caused by the tornado in early March 2020. Diplomatico Rum and participating restaurants have created cocktails named after songs from Shannon’s upcoming album, Building, bringing together the forces of the two intertwined industries that are the backbone of Nashville: hospitality and music. Sponsored by DPA Microphones, both Shannon and the restaurants hope to share their stories of strength and re-building throughout this tough year. Together, they are calling it “The Building Project.” Nashville restaurants that have participated thus far include Lockeland Table, 5th and Taylor, and HUSK. LaBrie appeared on NBC’s Today In Nashville, speaking to popular East Nashville restaurant Lockeland Table to discuss their reopening. LaBrie also recently appeared on Bandsintown’s new Americana and Country channel “Outskirts.”
