Letting laundry sit unfolded on the bed and spilling milk on the kitchen floor allows those with children to relate to the unruly but beautiful mess that is parenthood with your significant other.
Kellogg shares her personal connection to the song: “‘This Mess’ was inspired by being a busy mama with a beautiful, messy life with kids and a partner to share it with. It’s chaotic at times, but making the best of it, and enjoying the crazy makes it all worth it in the end. I love the bridge, where it says ‘We’re the ones that made it, and honey I wouldn’t trade it.’ I think we get so caught up sometimes in how hard it is to raise kids, all while trying to maintain a home, a marriage, friendships, a job, etc.. Sometimes it’s easy to forget how grateful you are to have the mess, because it’s a beautiful one.”
