Puts Country Spin on 1981 QUEEN and David Bowie Hit
(Nashville, Tenn. – April 17, 2020) Singer/songwriter, Jaida Dreyer, has released a new single, “Under Pressure,” a remake of the 1981-hit by British rock band Queen and singer David Bowie. The song, credited as being co-written by the five musicians, Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon, and David Bowie, is available here. Dreyer recorded and co-produced “Under Pressure” with Park Chisolm for a special project before the COVID-19 shutdown.
Dreyer spoke about why she chose to record the song, saying, “I remember my last trip to Music Row to write before I started to self-quarantine and realizing things were about to change drastically. The weight of the situation was heavy for everyone in the room that day. On my drive home, my rough mix of the song came up and started to play through my truck speakers. I began to think about the tornado and the pandemic, and the pressure weighing on the Nashville music community as a result. I also started to think about the whole world, our healthcare workers, our leaders, all of us and began to cry. We are all under such extreme pressure with the uncertainty of life. I knew if there was ever a time to release this into the world, it was now. I pray through these hard times and hope that we all can gain a greater sense of community, realize what’s important in life, and understand that despite our differences, we are all connected. This is our chance to make the world a better place, forget the craziness, and love and care for one another.”
Dreyer’s undeniable talent, unique sound, and personal life experiences have all shaped her into a one-of-a-kind entertainer. She is currently working on new music and will continue on tour later this year.
Dreyer has achieved success as a singer, songwriter, and performer who has traveled coast-to-coast performing for fans, and opening for artists ranging from Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, to the legendary Merle Haggard. She is a CCMA Female Artist of the Year nominee and is also a frequent guest on the world-famous Grand Ole Opry.
Dreyer enjoyed her initial success in 2012 with her hit singles, “Guys Girl” and “Half Broke Horses,” released by Streamsound Records. Since then, she has become just as well known for her songwriting skills boasting cuts by Eric Church, Sara Evans, Brantley Gilbert, Faith Hill, Cody Jinks, Kevin Costner & The Modern West, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Granger Smith, and more. Her eclectic writing style has had her penning songs with the likes of Guy Clark to top writers on the LA pop scene. She is credited for nine cuts in the hit television series “Nashville,” and songs featured in A&E’s “The Returned” and Netflix’s “Longmire.” In 2016, she celebrated a multi-week #1 with Luke Bryan’s “Home Alone Tonight” featuring Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild.
In 2018, Dreyer was named the winner of the inaugural season of USA’s Real Country, which featured celebrity guest panelists Shania Twain, Jake Owen, and Travis Tritt.
