Krissy Feniak Recalls on Her Bittersweet Move from Her Hometown in Canada
(Nashville, Tenn. – April 8, 2022) – Canadian award-winning country artist, Krissy Feniak releases her new hometown-inspired single “Far From Home.” The track is reminiscent of Feniak’s wistful move to Nashville and is available across all streaming platforms. Listen here.
The Nashville-based artist was inspired to write the track, reliving her bittersweet decision of moving away from her hometown of Drayton Valley, Alberta. “Far From Home” speaks for itself, as Feniak relocated over 2,000 miles away to live out her dreams of an aspiring country artist. Produced by Grady Saxman at Saxman Studios, this stand-alone track is no different than her, often recognizable, nature of writing authentic and honest music. “Far From Home” lives up to Feniak’s continuous theme and style of personal storytelling, as this track resides extremely close to her heart.
Eager about the new release, Feniak shares, “This song means so much to me; it comes from a very special place in my heart. I am so close to my family, and leaving them was truly the hardest thing I have ever done. I feel so lucky to live in Nashville but it is so tough not having them here to celebrate the wins and losses with me.”
After sitting down to write the song with singer/songwriter and friend Kinslee Melhorn, the songwriting process soon became somewhat of a sad, venting session. Feniak emphasizes, “In my mind, I was already in Nashville, but my heart was back home. There’s something about leaving a small town where you are excited to make a name for yourself, but with that, you’re also leaving behind all that comfort you’ve known your whole life. It felt like I was abandoning my life, but I am so blessed to have such a supportive circle here that has made it so much easier.”
“Far From Home” comes on the heels of Feniak’s current single, “Break Up Break Down,” which reached 400,000 + streams and 35,000 monthly listeners. The rising artist has received accolades, including the Alberta Country Music Association’s Horizon Youth Award (2018), Rising Star Winner (2019), and Female Artist Nominee (2018-2021).
Having played famed stages, such as the Bluebird Café (Nashville, TN), Feniak has taken her country-edge on the road to many venues, including The Listening Room (Nashville, TN), Cook County Saloon (Edmonton, Alberta), Cowboys (Calgary, Alberta), Calgary Stampede (Calgary, Alberta), Big Valley Jamboree (Camrose, Alberta), and more.
