Six-week, cross-country tour features stellar lineup including Jamey Johnson, Montgomery Gentry, Jack Ingram, Little Big Town, more
(Nashville, TN – May 13, 2010) Americana/Country act Tyler Reeve has been selected as one of the few independent artists to perform on the inaugural 2010 Country Throwdown Tour, set to kick off May 14, in Tampa, Fla.
With a lineup that includes major label artists Jamey Johnson, Montgomery Gentry, Jack Ingram and Little Big Town, Reeve serves as the tour’s official “BBQ Band” and one of the only unsigned performers on the bill. Reeve and his band open at each stop on one of the two side stages, then fire up the grill at the end of the night to serve food for the rest of the acts.
“We are really looking forward to being part of the Country Throwdown Tour,” says Reeve. “It’s awesome that we get to be the first BBQ Band ever for this tour, and we can’t wait to get out there and meet all the fans! We are ready to roll!”
As an independent artist, Reeve for now is following the lead of acts like Corey Smith and Zac Brown Band, performers who found early success by building a strong fan base through grassroots marketing and a busy touring schedule.
“We’re certainly open to the idea of signing with a label,” Reeve says. “To this point though, we just haven’t been in a real hurry to do that. We’re gaining new fans every day, touring a lot, and continuing to get even tighter as a band. We’re building a lot of momentum, and the Country Throwdown Tour is a big part of that, for sure.”
Before joining the 2010 Country Throwdown Tour, Reeve was preparing to enter the studio to record the follow-up to his 2008 debut, Whiskey Down. Produced by two-time Grammy award-winning producer Don McCollister, Whiskey Down incorporates Reeve’s penchant for lyrical storytelling, honest narrative and humorous insight with a variety of musical influences, including traditional Country, Americana, R&B, Blues and Southern Rock.
With a touring schedule that includes more than 200+ shows a year, the Atlanta-based singer has opened for artists including Zac Brown Band, Darius Rucker, Jake Owen, Jack Ingram, Colt Ford, Randy Rogers Band, Jason Michael Carroll and others.
Reeve and his band plan to enter the studio to begin recording his sophomore release shortly after the Country Throwdown Tour ends on June 20 in Mountain View, Calif.
