Whiskey Myers Debuts at No. 3 on iTunes Country Albums Sales Chart
(Nashville, Tenn. – April 27, 2011) With its sophomore release, Firewater, Outlaw Country and Southern Rock outfit Whiskey Myers has debuted at No. 3 on this week’s iTunes Country Albums chart, a significant feat for an act without national Country radio airplay.
The Texas-based group jumped this week to No. 21 on Billboard’s Texas Regional Radio Report with its current single, “Bar, Guitar and a Honky Tonk Crowd,” and at one point was the No. 2 selling Country album on iTunes yesterday. It currently stands as iTunes’ No. 3 selling Country release.
Respected Nashville music critic Robert K. Oermann called the Leroy Powell-produced track “a Southern rawk thang with plenty of punch in the percussion. Most promising.” The group plans to release its follow-up single to national Country radio in the coming weeks. About Whiskey Myers:
Whiskey Myers’ debut album, Road Of Life, established the five-piece from East Texas as a worthy heir to the Skynyrd blue-collar tradition. The group’s sinewy sound and intense musical interplay is the foundation of their live show, and their hectic touring schedule (close to 150 shows in 2010) is testament to their prowess on stage. The band’s sophomore release, Firewater, is a formidable mix of Southern Rock and Outlaw Country and solidifies Whiskey Myers as a genre-blending diamond in the rough whose music has captured the attention of fans and critics alike. Produced by former Shooter Jennings guitarist, Leroy Powell, and recorded at the famed Panhandle House in Denton, Texas, Firewater was released on April 26, 2011.
